    BA Flight Makes Safe Emergency Landing at Ataturk Airport

    britishairwaysBritish Airways flight BA-198 had to make an emergency landing at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey, on April 11.

    The Boeing 777, en-route from Mumbai, India, to London, UK, had to land in emergency after it ran out of fuel mid-flight due to suspected fuel leak.

    The plane landed safely at Ataturk Airport and everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement aircraft for the passengers.

    Allegiant Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing at St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport

    AllegiantAllegiant Airlines flight 871 had to make an emergency landing at St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport in Florida, on June 1st.

    The plane was flying from Moline, Illinois, when the crew reported a mechanical problem and declared an emergency.

    The plane landed safely. All 140 people aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline said, “Our mechanics are doing a full investigation and inspection to diagnose and repair the issue.”

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Mount Airy Cornfield

    A 1976 Cessna 150 M had to make an emergency landing in a cornfield on Bill Moxley Road, Mount Airy, Maryland, on September 19.

    The pilot, identified as Paul Borghese, 47, of Ashburn, Virginia, said he was forced to make an emergency landing after the plane experienced engine issues. He was heading from Clearview Airpark, Westminster to Leesburg, Virginia at the time.

    The plane ended up on its roof and sustained minor damage.

    The pilot remained unharmed.

    OpenSkies Flight Diverts to Shannon Airport

    OpenSkiesOpenSkies flight EC-8001 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Shannon airport, Ireland, on August 19th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Paris Orly Airport, France, to Newark, New Jersey, was diverted due to a gear well fire indication.

    The plane landed safely. All 89 passengers and 5 crew members remained safe.

    Dallas: American Eagle ERJ Lands Safely with Hydraulic Failure

    What: American Eagle Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Dallas to Dayton Ohio
    Where: Dallas
    When: Jul 11th 2009
    Who: 43 passengers
    Why: Just after takeoff, the flight experienced issues with hydraulics. The landing gear failed to extend. Nearly an hour after leaving, the flight landed safely at the airport of origin, although “alternate gear extension” implementation was required.

    Small Plane Crash-Landed in Reno

    A Cessna 182 plane crash-landed on McCarran Boulevard in Reno, Nevada, on May 24th.

    According to the FAA, the incident happened when the plane was attempting an emergency landing due to engine failure.

    No one was injured in the incident.

    The NTSB is investigating.
