    LOT Polish AirlinesA LOT Polish Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing at Scotland’s Glasgow airport at 11:35 a.m. on September 26.

    The decision for emergency landing was made after the crew received an alert from the Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s fire protection system. The aircraft, carrying 260 people, was on its way from Chicago, US, to Warsaw, Poland, at the time.

    The plane landed safely and no one was hurt.

    An airline spokesperson Barbara Pijanowska-Kuras said, “The emergency landing of the plane was caused by a glitch in the fire protection system…There was no fire or smoke onboard.”

    Bird-Struck Jet Airways Flight Lands Safely in Kathmandu

    Jet AirwaysJet Airways flight 9W268 had to make an emergency landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, on December 29.

    The Boeing 737, en-route from Mumbai, was approaching the Kathmandu airport when a bird struck it, causing a minor fire in one of the engines.

    Emergency protocol was deployed at the airport when the plane touched the runway. All 125 passengers and 6 crew members were safely evacuated while the fire was brought under control.

    The aircraft was taken for examination.

    Virgin Australia Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Adelaide

    Virgin Australia flight VA-465 made an emergency landing in Adelaide, Australia, on October 18th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Perth to Brisbane, Australia, was diverted after the crew noticed an electrical odor in the cabin.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Who: 110 aboard
    Why: While en route the plane developed engine problems. One account says the pilot saw an engine on fire and contacted ATC for immediate clearance for an emergency landing.

    The official report says that the plane was experiencing engine surges.

    What matters is that the plane landed safely, with no casualties. A replacement plane was flown in.

    Delta Airlines flight DL-445 made an emergency landing at Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, on March 3rd.

    American Airlines Regional Jet Makes Emergency Landing at Norfolk International Airport

    American EagleAmerican Airlines flight 3749 made an emergency landing at Norfolk International Airport in Virginia, on March 15th.

    The plane took off from LaGaurdia Airport, New York, and was heading to Norfolk when the crew reported smoke in the cockpit and declared emergency.

    The plane landed safely. All 26 passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    The incident is being investigated.
