    China Airlines Flight Returns to Tokyo due to Engine Problem

    China Airlines flight CI-221 had to return and make an emergency landing in Tokyo, Japan, on October 1st.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Taipei, Taiwan, but had to turn back due to an engine problem.

    The plane landed safely. All two hundred and seventy-eight people aboard remained unharmed.

    British Airways Flight Returns to Heathrow Airport due to Electrical Odor

    British Airways flight BA-123 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, United Kingdom, on February 12th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane took off for Doha, Qatar, but had to turn back after the crew reported an electrical odor onboard.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Qantas Airbus False Alarm

    What: Qantas Airbus A330-200 en route from Sydney to Jakarta
    Where: Sydney
    When: Jan 1st 2011
    Why: On takeoff, the cabin pressurization set off an indicator. The crew returned to Sydney where they made a safe landing after being in the air a half hour. On inspection, the problem was not the pressurization but an alarm error. The flight continued as scheduled.

    Kestral Hawk Crashes in Thailand, Flying Club Owner Killed


    On January 12, 2012, a privately owned Kestrel Hawk took off from Pattaya Airpark with only the pilot aboard and developed an engine fire while aloft.

    At 6:30 pm, the pilot crashed in the area of Huay Yai near the Pattaya Dolphin World and Resort.

    The ultralight was beyond repair.

    The pilot, Mr. Nawaporn ”Neil” Sawaetwong, sustained critical injuries— severe trauma to his legs and arms and a head injury— and was rushed to the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.

    He was President of the Pattaya Pilot Club Association, Owner of the Pattaya Airpark & Pilot Village and C.E.O. of the Fun Flying Thai Air Service Company.

    The Thai Civil Aviation Authority is investigating.

    Small Plane Crash Lands in Minnesota due to Engine Trouble

    A small plane crash landed in Xanadu Avenue, Jordan, Minnesota, on September 14th.

    The Stinson V77 flying from Fleming Field, South St. Paul, had to make a landing attempt after encountering engine problem mid-air.

    The plane flipped over on landing.

    The pilot remained unharmed.

    Delta Airlines Flight Intercepted by Greek F-16 Fighter Jets

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-8957 was intercepted by two Greek F-16 fighter aircrafts on May 19th.

    According to the airline, the radio contact with Greek ATC was lost for a brief period of time when the Boeing 767-400, en-route from Frankfurt, Germany, to Kuwait, was transiting through Greek Airspace.

    The fighter jets returned to the airbase as the communication was restored.

    The flight continued to Kuwait.
