    Etihad Airways Flight Returns to Abu Dhabi due to Engine Issue

    Etihad Airways flight EY-474 had to return and make an emergency landing in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on May 2nd.

    The Airbus A330-200 plane took off for Jakarta, Indonesia, but had to turn back after the crew reported a loud bang and streaks of flames coming out of left engine.

    The plane landed back uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Skydiving Crash Victims Awarded by Jury


    Doncasters Inc. of London is a manufacturer of aviation components. They were recently held accountable for the death of five victims of the crash of a DeHavilland DHC-6 Twin Otter, the skydiving plane which exploded at the Sullivan airport.

    Six people were killed: Melissa Berridge, 38, of St. Louis; Victoria Delacroix, 22, of London; Robert Cook, 22, of Rolla, Mo.; Rob Walsh, 44, of St. Louis; Scott Cowan, 42, of St. Louis were awarded four million each, and a portion of $28 million in punitive damages.

    David Aternoster, 35, also died in the crash but his relatives were not part of the lawsuit. Jim and Scott Cowan, owners of Quantum Leap Skydiving were piloting.

    Eight engine failures are believed to be due to a defective Doncasters part according to aviation experts, air crash investigators, metallurgists and aircraft design engineers.

    What: Aer Lingus Airbus A320-200 en route from Dublin to Lyon
    Where: Dublin
    When: Jun 28th 2010
    Why: After takeoff, the flight encountered a bird, resulting in a bird strike and engine damage. The pilot returned to Dublin and made a safe landing. Passengers were provided an alternative Airbus.

    Small Plane Crashed into Pompano Beach House; 3 Injured

    A small plane crashed into a home located at 925 NE 26th Ave. in Pompano Beach, Florida, on April 25th.

    The Hawker Beechcraft 76 plane went down shortly after taking off from Pompano Beach Airpark.

    There were two men and a woman aboard the plane at the time; all of them were critically injured. Authorities confirmed that no one on the ground was injured.

    The aircraft is registered to Florida Aviation Academy.

    The FAA is investigating.

    United Boeing Dreamliner Flies Houston to Houston

    On June 24, 2013, a United Boeing 787 Houston to Denver flight developed an issue with the brakes (or brake indicator) and made an emergency landing. Details about the specific problem were not released.

    The flight left Houston at 9.12am and arrived in in Houston at 11:58 a.m.

    None of the 219 passengers and 13 crew members sustained any injury. Maintenance examined the plane. The plane was returned to service.

    Stranded passengers were provided travel solutions by a Boeing field service representative.

    Light Plane Crashes into Paddock in Australia; Pilot Injured

    A light plane was crashed near Upper Maffra Road, in the town of Newry, Victoria, Australia, on the afternoon of April 3rd.

    The plane hit the power lines before crashing into a paddock.

    The pilot, who was the only person aboard, sustained injuries. He was later airlifted to hospital.
