    Bird-Hit Yeti Airlines Jet Returns to Biratnagar Airport

    Yeti airlinesYeti Airlines flight 792 had to return and make an emergency landing at Biratnagar Airport, Nepal, on June 17.

    The Jetstream-41 jet took off for Kathmandu but had to return immediately afterwards after a bird hit its engine.

    The plane landed back uneventfully. All 29 people aboard remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement aircraft for the passengers.

    SkyWest Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Grand Island, NE

    SkyWest Airlines flight OO-5215 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Grand Island, Nebraska, on April 18th.

    The plane heading from Omaha, Nebraska, to San Francisco, California, was diverted after the crew received an indication of an open door.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Jet Airways Hot Engine in Mumbai

    What: Jet Airways Boeing 737-800 en route from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
    Where: Mumbai
    When: May 28, 2012
    Who: 158 aboard
    Why: While en route, Jet Airways pilots had to shut down and engine and divert to Mumbai.

    One of the Boeing’s engines caught on fire.

    Pilots made a safe landing at Mumbai-Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. On the ground at the airport at 5:45 a.m., fire and smoke was reported coming from the left engine.

    Passengers evacuated at the nearest taxiway. Emergency services put out the engine fire in minutes.

    American Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in New York after Lightning Strike

    American AirlinesAmerican Airlines flight AA-4233 had to divert and make an emergency landing at John. F. Kennedy Airport, New York, on March 17.

    The Embraer ERJ-175, en-route from Raleigh, North Carolina to La Guardia Airport, NY was struck by lightning, due to which the crew diverted for a safe landing.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 55 passengers and 4 crew members onboard remained unhurt.

    Engine Shut down on Tenerife-Moscow Flight Which Diverts to Frankfurt

    What: Air Bashkortostan/VIM Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Tenerife to Moscow
    Where: Frankfurt
    When: Mar 10th 2012
    Why: When the flight was en route over Paris, the flight developed engine problems.

    Pilots shut down the affected engine, and diverted to Frankfurt Germany where they made a safe landing.

    Air Bashkortostan/VIM Airlines used the layover in Germany to make repairs, and completed the flight less than 48 hours later.
