Who: pilot Wanganui pilot Matthew Warrick William Funnell, 39 and pilot 37-year-old Troy Aaron Wareham. Funnell is the cousin of John Funnell, managing director of Helicopter Services BOP – which provides air ambulance services.
Why: When the pilots did not return, a search party was sent out, which discovered the wreckage. The crash is under investigation

Interim Compensation Provided to Pawan Hans Crash Victims
What: Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd. Mi-172
Where: Arunachal Pradeshnorth-east India near China border
When: April 19 2011
Who: 18 passengers, including two minors, and five crewA committee of inquiry was on Saturday set up to investigate the circumstances that led to the recent crash of the Pawan Hans helicopter in Arunachal Pradesh. After the crash, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said they would launch a series of measures to ensure that all helicopters are operated and maintained.
Arunachal Pradesh government requested ( on January 18, 2010, and then on August 8, 2010) to replace the old helicopter.
Interim compensation of Rs 1 lakh is being provided for the deceased and Rs 50, 000 for the injured.
Those killed were identified as Mrs Anita, A Baruah, Dr Tendon, Dr Asif, Mrs R Asif, Mrs Jahara, Ms Asif, Master Asif, Mr A Sharma, A K Saraugi, Ms N Botha, Col Sharma, Mr W Bhatia, Mr T Mustafa. The three crew members killed were a second pilot Captain Tiwari, Flight Attendant A Dixit and Assistant Maintenance Engineer S B Kulkarni.
Survivors were Captain Varun Gupta, Randiv Kumar Chaturvedi, Dorjee Wangdi, Rishi Bothra, Rajendra Pal and Mrs Karishma Saraugi.

Five lost in Brazil Beechcraft Crash

At 2:30 pm on Feb 3, 2013, a Beechcraft C90B King Air en route from Maringá to Congonhas was over Cândido Mota, São Paulo when it crashed in Água do Macuco, the Water Macuco, traditional producer of soybeans and cassava.. Residents heard a loud bang as the plane flew close to a neighborhood, circling, then fell into a soybean field. Three women and two men died, including the 58 year old pilot. Fuel outside the tank seemed to indicate to investigators that the pilot had dumped fuel. Just before the crash, the pilot had informed the tower of Curitiba (PR) that would make a forced landing at Assisi State Airport.The fatalities included Elizete Piveta and her daughter, Leticia Piveta Assumption, Leticia’s fiance José Eduardo Ermírio de Moraes, pilot Luis Henrique Marcondes, 58 and co-pilot, his wife Luciana Souza Aguiar da Costa.
Rescue teams from Assisi and Marília assisted at the scene.

NTSB sending Team to Peru Crash Investigation

WASHINGTON – The National Transportation Safety Board is sending a team of investigators to Pucallpa, Peru, to assist the Government of Peru with its investigation of yesterday’s crash involving a Boeing helicopter. According to the U.S. Department of State, the accident claimed the lives of five American citizens.On Monday afternoon, in Pucallpa, Peru, a Boeing-Vertol 234 helicopter, operated by the U.S. operator Columbia Helicopters, crashed shortly after takeoff. The helicopter had departed from FAP Captain David Abenzur Rengifo International Airport, Pullcapa, Peru enroute to Tarapoto, Peru. It has been reported that all seven persons aboard the aircraft sustained fatal injuries.
The NTSB has designated senior air safety investigator, Paul Cox, as the U.S. Accredited Representative. He will be accompanied by two NTSB investigators with expertise in helicopter systems and operations, a representative from the Federal Aviation Administration, and a representative from Columbia Helicopters. The team is expected to arrive in Peru tonight.

Forestville Plane Crash
What: Floatplane
Where: North of Forestville, Quebec
When: Sept 18, 2012 1 pm
Who: 2 fatalities
Why: The floatplane carrying two men crashed in an inaccessible area near a North Shore lake, Lake Petit Argent killing one man in his twenties and one in his fifties.After they were recovered by Canadian Forces Rescue, they were rushed to a Baie-Comeau hospital. The cause of the crash is unknown. The victims names have not been released.
2 Killed After Small Plane Crashed in Punjab, Pakistan
A two-seater trainer plane crashed in Punjab, Pakistan, on February 24th.
The plane, belonging to Shaheen Air, went down shortly after taking off from a flight training school in Faisalabad, Punjab.
There were 2 people aboard at the time, including the instructor and trainee pilot. Both of them were killed in the crash.
The accident is being investigated.
