    3 Killed, 1 Injured in Alaska Plane Crash

    A Cessna 206 plane crashed on Admiralty Island, Alaska, on April 8th.

    The commuter airplane, owned by Sunrise Aviation based in Wrangell, Alaska, was carrying four people when it went down near Angoon village.

    Three people were killed in the crash while the fourth one survived. She was airlifted to a hospital in Juneau.

    The crash is under investigation.

    Delhi: Airbus Hydraulics

    What: An Air India Airbus A-320 en route from Delhi to Hyderabad to Tirupati
    Where: Delhi
    When: Jun 29th 2009 1141 hours
    Who: 68 passengers, 6 crew
    Why: Thirty minutes into the flight, the control panel indicated a hydraulic problem. The pilot requested to return to Delhi, where passengers debarked safely. Passengers were provided an alternate plane to complete their flight.

    No further details were available about the hydraulic problem.

    Military Chopper Crashes during exercises

    What: USMC HMLA-469 Bell AH-1W Super Cobra
    Where: Yuma, AZ
    When: Feb 22, 2012, 8 pm
    Who: 2 aboard, 2 fatalities
    Why: The helicopter was engaged in night flight exercises on February 22nd near Yuma, AZ when it collided with another flight. Service members with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing were involved.

    The crash happened west of the Chocolate Mountains in California.

    The names of the two fatalities have not been released.

    Air Ambulance Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Trabzon Airport

    An air ambulance plane made an emergency landing at Trabzon Airport, Turkey, on March 14th.

    The plane took off for Germany but had to turn back due to a technical issue.

    The airport was closed before the plane landed safely.

    The air ambulance was transporting a British patient from Doha, Qatar.

    Homebuilt Crashes in Santa Ynez

    What: single-engine homebuilt plane( S FLUT-R-BUG SA6) en route from Santa Ynez Valley Airport
    Where: Sycamore Valley Ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley in the 6500 block of Figueroa Mountain Road.
    When: Between 2 and 2:30 pm.
    Why: The pilot had to land because of engine trouble. After landing, he worked on his plane, and took off again to fly the 10 miles to the airport, but the engine quit again and the plane crashed into some oak trees. The pilot sustained a scratch on his head but the plane is considered “substantial”

    Fokker 27 Investigation

    INFORMATION ON 27 OCTOBER 2013

    The BEA has initiated a Safety Investigation following the accident that occurred to the Fokker 27 Mk 500, operated by the Italian airline Miniliner on behalf of the French airline Europe Airpost.

    The cargo aeroplane, with two pilots on board, had taken off at 01h10 (local time) from Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport bound for Dole, France. A few minutes later, the aeroplane suffered uncontained damage to the left engine. During the accident, a left propeller blade went through the fuselage. At 01h20, the crew made an emergency landing back at Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport.

    A team of three investigators from the BEA went to Roissy on Friday 25 October to begin the first work on the investigation. The flight recorders, along with the propeller, will be sent to the BEA on Monday 28 October.

    Organisation of the Investigation

    In accordance with the provisions of European Regulation 996/2012, the BEA has associated the following organisations with the Safety Investigation:

    ANSV (Agenzia Nazionale per la Sicurezza del Volo, Italy) representing the State of Operation of the aeroplane,
    AAIB (Air Accidents Investigation Branch, United Kingdom) representing the State of Manufacture of the aeroplane’s engine and
    the Dutch Safety Board (Netherlands) representing the State of Manufacture of the aeroplane.
    The preliminary examination of the propeller blade that separated from the engine and the readout of the flight recorders will be undertaken at the BEA at the beginning of this week, in the presence of the BEA’s foreign counterparts and their technical advisers.
