    Southwest Flight Lands in Emergency with Blown Tire

    southwestboeingSouthwest Airlines flight 1359 had to land in emergency at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Phoenix, Arizona, shortly before 1:30 p.m. on October 6.

    The flight was on its way from Phoenix to Newark when a blown tire was observed on the aircraft’s main landing gear. The plane was then diverted to making an emergency landing.

    Southwest spokesperson Dan Landson said that the plane landed uneventfully after burning off extra fuel. All 135 passengers and 5 crew members were shifted to another aircraft.

    United Airlines Plane Returns to Tampa after Bird Strike

    United Airlines flight UA-164 had to return for an emergency landing in Tampa, Florida, on March 8th.

    The Boeing 737-900 plane took off for Houston, Texas, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. There were 133 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Where: Bradley International Airport, Connecticut
    When: Oct 3, 2012
    Who: 130 people aboard
    Why: After Southwest Airlines Flight 2102 suffered a bird strike on the right side of the plane on approach to Bradley International Airport, the pilot made a safe landing.

    The crew described hearing a “loud bang” on approach.

    The bird strike was not confirmed during the flyby but afterwards during inspection.

    United Airlines Flight Returns to Heathrow Airport

    new-united-logoUnited Airlines flight UA28 had to return and make an emergency landing at London Heathrow Airport on December 17.

    The Boeing 767-400 was heading to Newark, New Jersey when some ‘maintenance issues’ forced the pilot to turn back.

    The plane circled over the English Channel for hours before it landed back safely, shortly before 4 p.m. All 227 passengers and 13 crew members were safely evacuated.

    An airline spokesperson said, “Our maintenance team is currently inspecting the aircraft…Our customer service team at Heathrow is providing assistance to customers and is making arrangements for them to complete their journeys…We regret any inconvenience experienced by our customers.”

    EasyJet Plane Diverts to Newcastle due to Fumes in Cabin

    EasyjetEasyJet flight U2-6931 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Newcastle, United Kingdom, on November 28th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Edinburgh, United Kingdom, to Hamburg, Germany, was diverted after the crew reported fumes in the cabin.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 161 passengers and 6 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Delta Airlines Plane Makes Safe Landing After Lightning Strike

    Delta Airlines flight DL-1201 made a safe landing following a lightning strike in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 21st.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane flying from Boston, Massachusetts, was descending toward Atlanta when it experienced a lightning strike on the nose.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
