    Qantas Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Los Angeles

    Qantas Airways flight QF-94 had to return and make an emergency landing in Los Angeles, California, on May 20th.

    The Airbus A380-800 plane took off for Melbourne, Australia, but had to turn back after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All 480 people aboard remained unharmed.

    Terror Halts Arkefly Flight

    What: Arkefly Boeing 767 Amsterdam to Aruba
    Where: Shannon Airport in Ireland
    When: 1030 GMT
    Who: 231 passengers (?) 11 crew
    Why: While over the Atlantic, the pilot asked to divert to Shannon, when a passenger began making threats, and acting aggressively. The Arkefly Boeing made a safe emergency landing at Shannon Airport, and stranding passengers there.

    The security alert was concerning a 44 year old Dutchman who was traveling alone went from being unruly to making bomb threats. After being taken off the plane, the man has been in official custody, held at Shannon Garda station and arrested under the Air Navigation and Transport Act. The plane was towed to a secure remote location for a police search.

    TAP Portugal Plane Returns to Portugal due to Unusual Odour

    TAPTAP Portugal flight TP-352 made an emergency return to Portela Airport, Lisbon, Portugal, on November 18.

    The Airbus A320-200, en-route from Lisbon to London, had to return in emergency due to an unusual odour smelled mid-air.

    The plane landed safely.

    All passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    Flybe Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Birmingham, England

    Flybe flight BE-4447 made an emergency landing in Birmingham, England, on May 30th.

    The plane heading from Doncaster, England, to Faro, Portugal, was diverted after the crew reported that the captain was feeling unwell and that they were also experiencing technical issues.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Trans States Airlines Plane Rejects Take Off From Fargo

    Trans States Airlines flight UA-4629 had to reject take off from Fargo, North Dakota, on January 9th.

    The Embraer ERJ-145 plane was accelerating to take off for Denver, Colorado, when two right hand tires blew, forcing the crew to reject take off.

    The plane safely returned to the apron. Everyone aboard remained safe.
