    Emergency Landing Commendation in Brisbane


    What: single-engine Cessna 172
    Where: Archerfield Airport, Brisbane
    When: 4.00 pm
    Who: instructor and student
    Why: landed on one wheel and skidded along the runway. The landing is being described as “near-perfect emergency landing ” and “best possible outcome” in spite of the fact that the Cessna’s undercarriage would not lower. Royal Queensland Aero Club (RQAC) plans to investigate.

    Air Canada Cautionary Landing

    What: Air Canada Boeing 767-300 en route from Tokyo to Calgary
    Where: Tokyo
    When: Apr 16 2010
    Who: 179 aboard
    Why: After takeoff, the plane developed problems with its right engine. The crew decided to return to the airport where they made a safe, cautionary landing.

    No word yet if a replacement flight was provided.

    ANA Wings Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

    ANA Wings flight NH-1822 had to make an emergency landing in Nagoya, Japan, on April 25th.

    The plane flying from Matsuyama, Japan, was descending toward Nagoya when the crew entered a hold reporting a hydraulic failure.

    The plane subsequently landed safely and was towed to the apron.

    There were 57 passengers and 4 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Boeing Solution Discussed by CEO Jim McNerney

    At the US Chamber of Commerce’s aviation summit, Jim McNerney, the CEO of Boeing, said the expects the technical solution being tested now will resolve the 787’s battery system’s problem and return to flying soon.

    The Dreamliner was grounded January 16.

    Continental: Hydraulic Leak over Newark Cancels Japan Flight

    What: Continental Airlines Boeing 777-200 en route from Newark,NJ to Tokyo Japan
    Where: Newark
    When: May 9th 2010
    Who: 275 passengers and 16 crew
    Why: After take-off, exterior observers saw the gear out and observed a leak which was determined to be the hydraulics. The flight returned to Newark for a safe landing after spending about an hour in the air. They made a safe landing and were towed to the gate. Continental arranged for alternative transportation.

    Hockey Team not injured in Mordovia Mishap


    On January 9, 2013 at t 01 h 10 min, a Mordovia Airlines Antonov 24rv#RA 46640 landing at Saransk Airport, Mordovia Russia skidded off the runway.

    The flight was from Krasnodar to Kazan, with a fuel stopover in Saransk airport.

    The plane was carrying a flight crew and the “Ariada – Akpars” hockey team. Five crew and twenty-nine passengers were aboard. There were no injuries reported. Passengers were provided an alternative flight for the remainder of their trip.
