    American Airlines Flight Returns to Miami due to Engine Problem

    American Airlines flight AA-62 had to return and make an emergency landing in Miami, Florida, on April 12th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane took off for Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an engine problem.

    The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    AVSEC World 2012 Postponed

    Due to Hurricane Sandy and impending severe weather that has the potential to inflict enormous and unprecedented damage on the East Coast, and specifically the New York metropolitan region, the decision has been made to postpone AVSEC World 2012 and associated meetings and events. This decision was not made lightly but in the interest of the safety and security of our attendees.

    Any reservations made at the below hotels through the conference registration system will be considered cancelled for arrival dates beginning on Sunday, 28 October unless we are otherwise notified.

    Tour Helicopter Crashes in California; 3 Injured

    A tour helicopter made a crash landing, hit 2 vans, and caught fire in the parking area of Santa Barbara Municipal Golf Club in California, in the afternoon of May 5th.

    The four-seater Robinson R-44 was returning to the Santa Barbara Municipal Airport after a tour, when it developed a mechanical problem.

    All three people aboard sustained injuries.

    The FAA is investigating.

    Australians Killed in Alaska Crash

    What: LNP Saratoga Inc. Piper Saratoga was en route from Fort Yukon to Fairbanks
    Where: Alaska
    When: July 18, 2012 5 PM
    Who: 2 aboard
    Why: A plane owned by LNP Saratoga Inc and eased to the West Valley Flying Club of Palo Alto. disappeared from radar in Alaska on July 18.

    The Air National Guard’s 210th and 212th Rescue Squadrons were deployed and discovered the wreckage. Alaska State Troopers identified the 64-year-old pilot Stephen Knight and 60-year-old Gillian Knight of Queensland, Australia.

    The pilots had been engaged in filing a “pop-up” Instrument Flight Rules Plan. The cloud cover was low.

    Two other planes had been flying with the wrecked plane but each with a different route. The wreckage was located 63 kilometres north of Fairbanks.

    Visibility hampered recovery operations on Wednesday but now the remains have been recovered and sent for autopsy by the state medical examiner’s office.

    News Coverage of the Kazakhstan Crash that killed 21 Update


    The SCAT-owned Canadian-built Bombardier Challenger CRJ-200 # UP-CJ006 crashed in Kyzyl Tu village five miles from its Almaty airport destination.

    There was disagreement over the number of passengers (5 crew, 16 passengers)

    Hawaiian Airlines Flight Returns to San Jose due to Mechanical Issue

    Hawaiian Airlines flight HA-43 had to return and make an emergency landing in San Jose, California, on March 7th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Honolulu, Hawaii, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a mechanical issue.

    The plane landed back safely. All 241 passengers and 11 crew members remained unharmed.
