American Airlines flight 669 had to return and make an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport, Pennsylvania, on August 7.
The plane took off for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport but had to return shortly afterwards after fire was observed in its left engine.
The plane landed uneventfully and all 142 people aboard remained unhurt.
According to airline spokesperson Josh Freed, the engine burned-off some residual fuel during take off but remained operational the whole time.
