    SAS OSLO-Newark Diverts to Bergen Down One Engine

    What: SAS Scandinavian Airlines Airbus A330-300 en route from Oslo to Newark,NJ
    Where: Faroe Islands
    When: Apr 22nd 2012
    Who: 264 passengers
    Why: While en route, the plane developed engine problems in one engine. Pilots shut it down, and diverted to Bergen Norway. Pilots made a safe landing in Bergen over an hour later, and passengers were delayed eight and a half hours.

    Air India Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Hyderabad

    air indiaAir India flight AI-544 made an emergency landing at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, on August 11th.

    The Airbus 319, carrying 102 passengers including TDP MLAs Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao, Modugula Venugopala Reddy and Chintamaneni Prabhakar, AP Intelligence chief AB Venkateswara Rao and some other prominent officials, was forced to land in emergency after the pilots noticed a technical snag.

    The plane landed safely and everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The flight was en-route from Delhi to Vijayawada via Hyderabad.

    Airbus Launches E-Fan Electric Trainer Airplane

    ElectricThe Airbus Group launched their two-seater, E-Fan electric trainer airplane in France last month.

    The all-electric all-composite experimental plane designed specifically as a demonstrator for the small electric aircraft technology made its first public flight in Bordeaux, France, during the Airbus’ E-Aircraft Day.

    The aircraft is comparatively quieter than the non-electric planes and has zero carbon dioxide emissions during flight. Moreover, it lasts an hour for training flights and half an hour for manoeuvres.

    According to Airbus, the E-Fan electric trainer plane will be used as a model for designing, building and selling two improved versions through their subsidiary company, VoltAir.

    IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Delhi Airport

    IndiGo flight 6E-719 made an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, India, on November 22nd.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Visakhapatnam, India, but had to turn back after the crew noticed smoke in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and seventy people aboard remained unharmed.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Los Angeles

    United Airlines flight UA-459 made an emergency landing in Los Angeles, California, on December 1st.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Denver, Colorado, to San Diego, California, was diverted after the crew noticed a hydraulic leak.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Air India Emergency Landing in Pakistan

    What: Air India Airbus A-319 en route from Abu Dhabi to New Delhi
    Where: Nawabshah 3:37 a.m.
    When: July 9, 2012
    Who: 122 passengers and six crew
    Why: While en route, the flight developed problems with three hydraulic systems. The crew diverted to Nawabshah Pakistan. According to news reports, “The captain preferred to keep passengers on board.”

    Air India is sending a team of eight engineers to Nawabshah to repair the plane and return it.

    The shuttle sent to return with the stranded passengers is expected to return by 4 pm.

    The DGCA is investigating.
