    Tallahassee Crash Update


    What: Single engine Cirrus SR-22 en route from Columbus, Ohio to heading to Tallahassee Regional Airport
    Where: two miles short of the runway on Blue Jay Drive
    When: left Columbus at approximately 2:59 pm Thursday; crashed into a house 7:17 p.m
    Who: Pilot and passenger Donald Hess and his wife, Victoria, were killed; 2 in the house were taken to the hospital with injuries. Hess was co-founder of Amherst Systems and on theboards of several health science companies
    Why: Under investigation.

    The plane struck two vehicles in the driveway. Under investigation. 50 homes are out of power as a result of the crash. The plane struck a series of power lines prior to crashing into two vehicles parked in a nearby driveway.

    Small Plane Crashed in Bayonne, New Jersey; Pilot Injured

    A Piper PA-28 plane crashed in a residential area in Bayonne, New Jersey, on February 19th.

    The plane went down on Avenue E between 41st and 42nd streets, knocking out some power lines.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was injured and was taken to Saint Barnabas Medical Center, New Jersey.

    The cause of accident is being investigated.

    Olive Branch Plane Crash

    What: Vectair USA plane en route from Olive Branch Airport.
    Where: Fifteen miles from the airport, in Fayette County Tennessee on Price Road, near Knox Road and Highway 57 in Moscow.
    When: 3:30 p.m. January 31, 2009
    Who: Pilot Killed
    Why: The plane clipped the tree line, crashed into a field then slid into a pond.

    Small Plane Crash at Chico Airport

    What: Beechcraft 35 en route from Portland-Hillsboro Airport to Chico Minicipal Airport
    Where: 200 feet N of the runway of Chico Airport
    When: NOV 10, 2009 5:30 pm
    Who: 2 on board
    Why: On approach to the Chico airport after refueling in Hillboro, Ore., the plane lost power at the north end of the airport. The right wing dipped and struck the ground, then the plane flipped nose first.

    The wife was piloting the plane.

    The plane was a total loss; but the couple who is from Seattle, made plans to fly on to AZ.

    Aerolineas MD-83 Diverts to Santiago

    What: Aerolineas Argentinas McDonnell Douglas MD-83 en route from Buenos Aires to Jujuy Argentina
    Where: Santiago Argentina
    When: Feb 4 2010
    Who: 45 passengers
    Why: While en route, the plane developed cabin pressure problems and diverted to Santiago where it made a safe landing. Passengers were provided a flight to Santiago.

    Plane Crash in Mojave Desert Kills 2

    A Beechcraft Bonanza crashed in the Clark Mountain Range of the Mojave Desert, near the border of Nevada and San Bernardino County, on January 20.

    The plane, registered to Van Pray of California City, was en-route from California City to Henderdon, Nevada, when it was reported missing. The search operation began shortly afterwards however, it was not until next day that the wreckage was located.

    Both people aboard the plane were killed in the accident. Their identities have not yet been released.

    The accident is under investigation.
