    Where: NZ
    When: Saturday night (Feb 7)7:30 p.m. local time Saturday (06:30 GMT), returned to Auckland 90 minutes later.
    Who: 365 people on board
    Why: Reporting a hydraulic problem after a light indicated a landing gear should not be raised, the Boeing dumped it’s fuel and returned at low altitude to New Zealand for a safe landing.

    What: Air France Boeing 777-200 en route from Paris to Sao Paulo
    Where: Portugal
    When: Nov 25th 2009
    Who: 252 passengers including nine players and the coaches of the Brazilian Volleyball National Team travelling home after winning the Men’s World League Championship
    Why: Two hours into the flight while west of Lisbon, the plane developed navigational problems. The crew decided to return to Paris which they did; and they made a safe landing.

    Airbus Engine Expires

    What: Tiger Airways Airbus A320-200 en route from Melbourne to Perth
    Where: Melbourne
    When: Dec 10th 2010
    Who: 159 passengers
    Why: After takeoff, the plane’s right engine emitted an explosive noise. After the crew shut down the engine, they returned to Melbourne and made a safe landing. Passengers were rerouted; the plane was grounded until the 17, and the affected engine was replaced.

    CityJet Plane Aborts Take-off in Ireland due to Engine Problem

    CityJetCityJet flight WX-124 had to abort taking off at Dublin Airport, Dublin, Ireland, on February 25th.

    The Avro RJ-85 was ready to take off for London City Airport, England, when a loud bang was heard from the engine, and smoke emerged.

    Everyone aboard remained safe.

    A replacement plane was arranged by the airline.

    GoAir Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Bangalore

    GoAir flight G8-283 had to return and make an emergency landing in Bangalore, India, on September 1st.

    The Airbus A320-200N plane took off for Pune, India, but had to turn back due to an engine failure.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and sixty-nine people aboard remained unharmed.

    Plane Makes Emergency Landing on Grass Airstrip in Harpswell Neck

    A small plane made an emergency landing after running out of fuel on the evening of May 25 on a grass airstrip in Harpswell Neck, Maine.

    The Washington D.C. -bound, single-engine plane landed in the area of Route 123, which is also known as Harpswell Neck Road and Basin Cove Road. According to Lt. John Faith of Brunswick Fire department, the rescue unit responded immediately, but the occupants of the plane refused to be taken to the hospital.

    The plane was slightly damaged.
