    Lost or Imaginary Plane Crash

    Where: a wooded area around Buckeye Road in Manatee County, Florida
    When: Thursday evening.
    Who: unknown
    Why: No holds were barred as emergency and rescue teams searched for a reported crash. Manatee Fire Rescue, Hillsborough Aviation and Coast Guard Aviation unsuccessfully searched a three mile radius.

    Java Helicopter Crash

    What: Indonesia’s SAR (search and rescue) Bolkow NBO 105CB helicopter on a training mission
    Where: off Semarang, Java at sea
    When: Nov 19 2009 10:15 am
    Who: 5 aboard
    Why: While en route, the search and rescue helicopter crashed from 5 meters into the sea. The pilot, co-pilot and three instructors were taken to the hospital with injuries.

    It is suspected that the helicopter was flying too low and tipped the surface of the ocean.

    Small Plane Crashes in Connecticut; 2 Injured

    A small plane crashed in Meriden, Connecticut, on January 27th.

    The Piper PA-28 was carrying two people when it went down near the American Legion building on Hanover Road.

    Both occupants of the plane were injured and were taken to a hospital.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Beechcraft Crashes in NC

    What: single-engine Beechcraft Sierra BE24 en route from Creve Coeur Airport in suburban St. Louis to SYLVA NC
    Where: Jackson County Airport near Sylva
    When: 1:45 pm AUGUST 26, 2009
    Who: pilot and passenger as James and Rhetta Lovins of Vaidalia, Ga
    Why: The plane had missed its first pass and was attempting a “go around” when it crashed about a quarter mile from the end of the 3,200 foot runway. The Jackson County airport is located on the ridge of a mountain. The wreckage was pulled from a ravine.

    Recovered: Last Victim of Lake Michigan Cessna Crash

    What: Cessna 206 en route from Alma Michigan to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn
    Where: Lake Michigan, Ludington MI
    When: July 23, 2010
    Who: 4 fatalities, 1 survivor 66-year-old pilot, Jerry Freed
    Why: While en route on a medical evacuation flight, the pilot contacted ATC about experiencing mechanical problems, then the medical flight crashed into Lake Michigan on July 23. The pilot was rescued by boaters Randall Schmidt and his wife, Kristin Berg, about 2 miles from shore. Six foot waves hindered the recovery efforts.

    The Michigan State Police Underwater Recovery Unit sonar found the plane at approximately 6 p.m. last Thursday.

    The remains of Alma school superintendent and cancer patient Don Pavlik and his wife, Irene, were recovered Friday by divers. The body of Dr. James Hall was recovered Saturday night and identified Sunday. Co-pilot Earl Davidson was found last, on Sunday at 9 a.m..

    Saab Crash in Sweden


    A Saab 91C Safir was on a demo flight during an air show, and suffered engine trouble. He turned back, but crashed and burned at Söderhamn Airport in Sweden. The crash started a wild fire, and a lot of smoke.

    The pilot died in the crash. The rest of the air show was cancelled. The pilot’s name hasn’t been released yet.

    The plane was manufactured in 1960 and crashed on June 1.
