    Delta Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport

    Delta Airlines flight DL-803 had to return and make an emergency landing at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Kentucky, on March 23rd.

    The plane took off for Orlando, Florida, but had to return shortly afterwards due to reports of a smoky odor in the cabin.

    The plane landed back safely. All 148 passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    American Diverts To San Juan

    On Jan 28, 2013, American Airlines Boeing 767 Flight 233 with 198 passengers and a crew of 13 was en route from Miami to Brazil when it developed an electrical odor in the cockpit.

    The pilots diverted to Puerto Rico and made a safe landing in San Juan at 5:08 p.m.

    The plane is to remain there overnight for inspection, and on the 29th, take the crew and passengers on to Sao Paolo.

    Hotel accommodations were provided for passengers.

    Sport Plane Crashes in Germany

    On April 26, 2013, four people died in a crash in Germany after taking off from Rendsburg-Schachtholm en route to Rotenburg/Wümme Airport.

    The plane crashed and burned on approach to Rotenburg less than 2 kilometers short of the runway in an open field.

    The names of the victims have not been released.

    An investigation is underway.

    Southwest Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Salt Lake City

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-604 had to return and make an emergency landing in Salt Lake City, Utah, on February 26th.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane took off for Los Angeles, California, but had to turn back after one of the engines caught fire.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and ten people aboard remained safe.

    Cessna Crash in New Guinea

    What: Kiunga Aviation Cessna A185E Skywagon en route from Nadzab to Baindoang
    Where: Papua New Guinea
    When: Dec 30, 2009
    Who: 7 aboard, 6 fatalities
    Why: It is conjectured that the plane developed engine trouble. (Apparently the engine caught fire.) The pilot radioed a distress call before it went down in a hilly region, scattering the wreckage on the hillside.

    The passengers, four adults and two children, were all fatalities. Their burned remains were taken to Angau Memorial Hospital.

    Pilot Richard Leahy survived the crash and was evacuated to Australia for medical attention.

    Air Canada Plane Returns to Puerto Rico due to Engine Issues

    Air CanadaAir Canada flight AC-957 had to make an unscheduled landing in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on November 13th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Toronto, Canada, but had to turn back due to engine issues.

    The plane landed safely. There were 132 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.
