    When: September 3, 2010
    Who: pilot
    Why: The pilot took off from Salinas Airport but became disoriented due to the fog, and lost control of the helicopter. No fatalities were reported.

    Small Plane Crashes in Clermont; No Injuries

    Small planeA small plane crashed in a residential neighborhood of Clermont, Florida, on March 1.

    Authorities said the pilot was attempting to land the plane at his house situated behind the 1700 block of Nature Cove Lane but it continued through the fences due a tail wind and rammed into a tree.

    The pilot, identified as Dave Harmon, remained unharmed and the aircraft sustained minor damage.

    The FAA is investigating.

    Sport Plane Crashes in Germany

    On April 26, 2013, four people died in a crash in Germany after taking off from Rendsburg-Schachtholm en route to Rotenburg/Wümme Airport.

    The plane crashed and burned on approach to Rotenburg less than 2 kilometers short of the runway in an open field.

    The names of the victims have not been released.

    An investigation is underway.

    Alaska: Cessna crash. Pilot walks away

    What: White and blue Cessna 185
    Where: Denali National Park
    When: Wednesday October 14, 2009
    Who: pilot Daniel McGregor and 67-year-old wolf biologist Gordon Haber.
    Why: Biologist Gordon Haber was looking for wolf packs on the north side of Denali Park when the plane failed to return. Thursday the wreckage was discovered. The pilot hiked twenty miles, and encountered two campers who helped get him home. From his home, he called State Troopers and his family. Haber’s remains were in the plane.

    Oil Leak Leads to Engine Shut Down, Emergency Landing Argentina

    What: Sol Lineas Aereas Saab 340A en route from Rosario,SF to Buenos Aires, Argentina
    Where: Rosario
    When: Nov 2nd 2011
    Who: 30 passengers and 3 crew
    Why: On takeoff from Rosario, the left engine had to be shut down. The engine had developed an oil leak through a conduit washer which had to be replaced.

    The flight returned to the airport and made a safe landing fifteen minutes later.

    6 People Killed in Quebec Plane Crash

    planecrashboliviatwitter-676x434A De Havilland Beaver plane crashed in Les Bergeronnes area of Canada’s Quebec province, on August 23.

    Authorities said the plane apparently nose-dived shortly after it took off from a Tadoussac airstrip for a sightseeing tour.

    There were 6 people aboard the plane, including the pilot Romain Desrosiers, a British family of 4 and another passenger Emilie Delaitre, 28, of France. All of them were killed.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.
