Embraer sent out a press release that it has selected Pratt & Whitney PurePower® Geared Turbofan™ Engines as the “Exclusive Power for Second Generation of E-Jets.”
The Embraer E-Jets equipped with PurePower PW1700G and PW1900G engines will enter service in 2018, and promise improvements in fuel burn, emissions and noise reduction. The engine which is still in testing stages, and will replace GE engines.
Republic Airways flight YX-4411 made an emergency landing at Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, on April 26th.
The Embraer ERJ-175 plane heading from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Virginia, to Fort Myers, Florida, was diverted after the crew reported a bird strike.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
Air Canada flight 623 made an emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Nova Scotia, Canada, on January 8.
According to the airline, the pilot reported an “acrid odour” and requested an emergency landing back at the airport. The plane was heading to Toronto at the time.
The Embraer 190 regional jet landed safely.
All 66 passengers remained unhurt.
Republic Airways flight YX-4447/AA-4447 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Pittsburgh International Airport, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 21st.
The Embraer ERF-170, flying from Bentonville, Arkansas, to New York, was when its cockpit window cracked, causing the plane to divert.
The plane landed safely.
No injuries were reported.
A Flybe flight had to return and make an emergency landing at Southampton airport, United Kingdom, on January 3.
The Embraer E175 plane took off for Alicante, Spain, but had to return shortly afterwards after a bird hit it, causing damage to the propeller.
The plane landed uneventfully. All 83 passengers remained unharmed.
The airline arranged an alternate plane for the passengers.

What: Chautauqua Airlines /Continental Airlines/Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Hartford to Cleveland

Who: 49 passengers and 3 crew
Why: After taking off from Hartford, smoke was observed in the bathroom.
Pilots were in the air from 9:42 am to 9:45 am.
The pilots made a safe landing, with emergency services on standby. Passengers evacuated without injury on to the runway, and were bussed to the terminal. The location of the plane did cause some airport disruption and delay.
On Feb 15, 2013, a Abelag Aviation Embraer EMB-500 Phenom 100 en route from Kortrijk-Wevelgem Airport to Berlin Schönefeld Airport was landing in Brandenburg and suffered a runway excursion that damaged the plane. The two crew and one passenger were uninjured. The closed runway led to twenty flights being diverted.
The landing gear suffered some damage. The plane was built in 2010, Construction number 50000196, had two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW617F-E Turbofan engines.
