    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Cleveland

    new-united-logoA United Airlines flight had to divert and make an emergency landing at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport in Cleveland, Ohio, on December 17.

    The flight, en-route from Los Angeles, California to Newark, New Jersey, was diverted after the pilot reported possible smoke on board.

    The plane landed safely and no one aboard was hurt.

    An Airline spokesperson confirmed that the passengers were accommodated in other flights to Newark.

    The cause of smoke is being investigated.

    Rogue Phones prompt American Eagle and Air France Diversions

    What: American Eagle Canadair CRJ-700 en route from Nashville, TN to New York, NY
    Where: Raleigh Durham
    When: Jan 3rd 2012
    Who: n/a
    Why: Two phones found in the lavatory prompted the pilot to divert to Raleigh Durham.

    A passenger who claimed the phones later was removed from the plane and taken custody by the FBI.

    What: Air France Boeing 777-200 en route from Houston,TX to Paris
    Where: Houston
    When: Jan 3rd 2012
    Who: 228 passengers and 15 crew
    Why: While en route from Houston, a phone was found aboard. Pilots returned to Houston, where the flight underwent a security check.

    The flight landed safely in Paris after a five hour delay.

    Pilots lost off the Coast of Mariveles

    What: Philippine Air Force SIAI Marchetti SF.260TP Warrior
    Where: Mariveles, Bataan, Philippines
    When: May 18, 2012
    Who: 2 aboard
    Why: The Philippine Air Force trainer that took off from Danilo Atienza Air Base in Sangley Point at around 6:55 a.m and failed to return was reported to have crashed in waters off Mariveles, Bataan. No distress call was made.

    Witnesses say the plane tilted sideways and nosedived into the sea, with no smoke or explosion. Some of the wreckage— fuel tank, a pilot helmet and one of the seats of the plane—was recovered at 7:30 a.m in 180 foot deep water. Coast guard divers have been searching. The missing pilots, Major Neil Tumaneng, a graduate of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1995, and his co-pilot, Lt. Michael Arugay, of PMA Class 1999, are still missing.

    The Philippines Coast Guard, the Philippine National Police, and Philippine Army found some wreckange; however a fishermen found partial remains in deep waters.

    The crash occurred near Fortune Isle, a tiny rocky island near Mariveles.

    EasyJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing at London Stansted Airport

    EasyJet flight U2-7435 had to make an emergency landing at London Stansted Airport, England, on July 5th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane heading from London Southend Airport, England, to Malaga, Spain, was diverted due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Aeroflot Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Moscow

    Aeroflot flight SU-1415 made an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow, Russia, on January 9th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Yekaterinburg, Russia, was descending toward Moscow when the crew noticed sparks and smoke coming from the cabin ceiling.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All one hundred and forty-nine people aboard remained unharmed.

    Where: 29 miles northwest of Reno, Lassen County, CA
    When: NOV 14, 2009
    Who: 3 aboard
    Why: After delivering a patient to a Reno Medical Center/hospital, the helicopter crashed and was destroyed by fire while on the way to its home base.
