Plane Crash Landed at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
A Fokker 50 turboprop plane, operated by Skyward International Aviation, crash landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, early morning on January 4.The authorities said the plane, en-route from Wajir to Nairobi, landed on its belly due to landing gear failure. None of the 6 people aboard was injured.
The flight operations were temporarily halted at the airport and all incoming flights were diverted to Mombasa airport. The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) later released a statement saying, “Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has concluded the inspection of the runway at JKIA. JKIA Runway 6 has been cleared by Kenya Civil Aviation Authority and is now open. Arrival and Departure flight operations have resumed.”
According to the local media reports, the aircraft was struck by birds upon take off, one of which got stuck in the landing gear mechanism.

Why: The approach to Dayton was aborted when the pilot received an unsafe gear message. The pilot returned to Milwaukee, and entered a holding pattern while pilot and ACC attempted to solve technical issues.On landing in Milwaukee, the nose gear collapsed. The plane was damaged, but the pilot was unharmed.

Why: After developing an on-flight problem, the Beechcraft was on return to Wilson Airport when it broke through the airport fence and caught on fire.The two pilots were retrieved in critical condition. The pilot died either on the way to Kenyatta National Hospital. The co-pilot died shortly after hospital admittance.

The following is not really an opinion, since it is documented fact: this is the fourth plane disaster to have occurred near the airport which borders Nairobi National Park. There are serious concerns about the safety of the airport. African aviation is considered the least safe in the world.

Wheeling Plane Misses Apts
A TennAir LLC Beechcraft Super King Air 200 #N92JR out of Clarksville TN developed a problem, and diverted to Wolf Road, just shy of flying into the Foxboro apartments.At 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, the plane stopped half on the street, barred from hitting the apartment complex by a stand of trees. A couple of eleven year olds witnessed the force landing and ran into their apartments in anticipation of an explosion that didn’t happen. They did get interviewed about the accident.
The pilot had trouble with the plane and managed to get on the ground without injuring any one.
He survived, although not quite at the airport in Wheeling Illinois. THe extent of damage to the plane was not released.

Air Astana Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Xiamen, China
Air Astana flight KC-1392 had to make an emergency landing in Xiamen, China, on October 12th.The Boeing 757-200 plane was performing a test flight when the crew noticed a landing gear issue.
The plane landed back uneventfully. All four crew members aboard remained safe.

Elderly Passenger Forced Emergency Landing in Sydney
A small four-seater Beechcraft Duchess plane had to make an emergency landing in a paddock in Sydney, Australia, on August 25, due to odd behaviour of an 82-year-old man on board.The plane was chartered by the old man for a business trip from Sydney suburb of Bankstown to Cowra. According to the Acting Inspector Gareth Smith, the man started acting erratically mid-air. “The pilot said that he started grabbing the controls, turning off fuel lines, and turning buttons randomly on and off,” he said.
The 23-year-old pilot had to fight and restrain the elderly passenger to control the plane for emergency landing. The old man sustained head and facial injuries in the process and was transported to hospital.
The charter company Australia by Air later said in a statement, “The pilot displayed excellent airmanship and skill during the landing, and we thank him for his professionalism.”
Police are investigating the incident.
