Cabin Pressure Endangers Donavia Passengers over Russia

What: Donavia Boeing 737-400 en route from Rostov to Moscow Vnukovo
Where: Rostov
When: Jan 23rd 2012 2:00 pm
Who: 70 passengers, 8 crew
Why: After takeoff, the flight developed pressure problems. An alarm went off on board; the crew had to return to Rostov where they made a safe landing.

Some passengers passed out and others experienced bloody noses and ears from the pressure.

The oxygen masks were not working, although they were released.
The cause of the pressure issues has not been determined and the details have not been made public.

The flight made a safe landing at Rostov on Don at 3:15 p.m. A replacement jet was provided for the passengers.

    United Airlines Emergency Landing in Fukuoka

    What: United Airlines Boeing 737-400 en route from Guam to Fukuoka
    Where: Fukuoka
    When: August 25, 2012 10:40 a.m.
    Who: 119 passengers and crew
    Why: Pilots reported a problem with their gauges and made an emergency landing at 10:40 a.m.

    Eva Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in San Francisco

    Eva Air flight BR-27 made an emergency landing in San Francisco, California, on November 25th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane took off for Taipei, Taiwan, but had to turn back after a bird strike caused engine issues.

    The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and eighty-seven people aboard remained unharmed.

    Martinair Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    Martinair flight MP-8341 made an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on July 14th.

    The Boeing 747-400 freighter plane took off for Johannesburg, South Africa, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an engine failure.

    The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Turbulence over Hawaii

    What: Air Canada Boeing 777-200 LR en route from Australia to Vancouver
    Where: emergency landing in Honolulu
    When: Friday 7:10 a.m.
    Who: 256 passengers and 17 crew members
    Why: When the flight encountered turbulence SW of Honolulu, twenty-two people suffered minor injuries following severe air turbulence. Two passengers were treated at the hospital and released; two crew members were hospitalized; the rest were treated on site. The flight left later, scheduled to arrive in Vancouver at 2:44 p.m.

    The turbulence was related to a thunderstorm.

    United Airlines Flight Returns to Heathrow Airport

    new-united-logoUnited Airlines flight UA5 had to return and make an emergency landing at London Heathrow Airport, UK, at around 3 p.m. on October 10.

    The Boeing 787, en-route to Houston, Texas, was returned after it got struck by lightning midair.

    The plane landed uneventfully and none of the 130 passengers was hurt.

    United Airlines said that the aircraft was taken for examination.
