    Small Plane Crashes at Porter County Regional Airport; 1 Dead

    A small plane crashed at Porter County Regional Airport, Indiana, on December 13th.

    Authorities said the plane went down nose-first in a grassy patch between two runways.

    The pilot, who is believed to be the only one on-board, was killed in the crash.

    Piper Crash at Memphis International Airport

    What: Piper PA32RT-300 en route from Lewisburg, West Virginia to Memphis
    Where: near the old National Guard site off Democrat Road, Memphis
    When: November 29, 2009, 4:15 p.m
    Who: 4 on board, one in critical condition
    Why: On approach to the runway, the plane landed 1500-2000 feet short of the runway and caught fire. No cause is given, but it is under investigation by the FAA. Co-owner Emmett O’Ryan was pronounced dead at the scene.

    UPDATE
    The FAA confirms that O’Ryan was caught flying in 2007 in Olive Branch in an unsafe aircraft not meeting FAA standards. Records show the incident involved the same plane in this crash

    The injured were transported by ambulance to the hospital. Three are non-critical.

    Piloting the plane was businessman Emmett O’Ryan. Aboard was his daughter Ruth, his son Robert, and Robert’s friend Patrick Jenning.

    Piper Crashes in Cornfield near York Airport

    What: Condor Flying Club Inc Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee en route from Fredrick, Maryland.
    Where: Lincoln Highway West, Thomasville, PA
    When: Jan 29, 2012, 11:00 am
    Who: 1 fatality
    Why: The piper crashed in a cornfield off of Lincoln Highway, a mile from the airport. The pilot, Douglas Helms of Westminster Maryland was pronounced dead at the scene. Helms will be at Lehigh Valley Hospital. The cause of the crash is unknown. An investigation is underway. The vehicle is registered to CONDOR FLYING CLUB INC

    Glider Instructor and Student in Glider Tow Accident

    On January 19, 2012, an Aeroclub Punta Alta I.C.A. Brasov IS-28B2—a glider— apparently improperly released from a tow plane and crashed at Punta Alta Airfield in Argentina.

    Those aboard were an instructor and a student on their first flight.

    Two fire crews and several police responded to the scene.

    Scientific Police in Bahia Blanca arrived on the scene to conduct the initial investigation and survey of the site and the remains of the glider.

    Maria Agustina Mallemaci and the glider pilot, William Hugo Santos, died from their injuries.

    Mauritanian Embraer Training Flight Crashes

    A Mauritanian Embraer EMB 312 Tucano with two aboard crashed in Maurotania in a deserted area while on a training mission flight.

    The pilot, Captain Ahmed Ould, was hospitalized at Nouakchott. The pilot survived because after the crash, he was able to exit the plane, according to: http://www.aqlame.com/article12526.html

    The mechanic, Ambodj Amado, died at the scene.

    Bahamas Crash Kills 8

    What: Acklins Blue Company Airways Charter Cessna 402 en route from Nassau to San Salvador
    Where: Lake Killarney, New Providence Island Bahamas
    When: Oct 5 2010 12:20pm.
    Who: Eight Bahamian men aboard, 8 fatalities
    Why: Not long after takeoff, the plane came down in Nassau’s Lake Killarney just east of the airport. The plane was substantially damaged on impact with Lake Killarney. There were no survivors. Chief Pilot Capt Nelson Hanna and co-pilot Devin Storr went down with the plane. Sound technician of Visage (and son of CN and Evangelist Williams) Nat Williams, was also onboard. BEC technician, Cory Farquarson, set setup technician, Devin Storr, Sasha Mildor, Lavard Curtis and Delon Taylor were also aboard.
