    Nazca Airlines Cessna Crash Kills 7 in Peru

    What: Nazca Airlines Cessna U206F tourist flight en route from/to Nazca Airport
    Where: El Mirador in the coastal Nazca Desert, Peru
    When: Feb 25 2010
    Who: Four Peruvians, one of whom was a boy, and one who was the pilot, and three Chileans.
    Why: While on a tourist flight to view ancient geoglyphs known as the Nazca Lines, the plane crashed. The wreckage is about 150 yards (meters) from a figure known as “the spider”.

    In November 2008, the same plane was involved in an emergency landing near kilómetro 424 de la carretera Panamericana Sur (South Pan-American highway). At that time, the problems was ascribed to engine trouble.

    The Peruvian passengers were identified as Sameli Chavarry, Erika del Pilar Zúñiga, John Rojas Rodríguez and Dayesca Rojas Zuñira; the Chileans were Matías Poblete, Gabriela Ortega Poblete and Alejandra Cienfuegos.

    Private Cessna Airplane Crashes near Jacksonville

    A private Cessna airplane crashed on Friday, March 21 before noon, behind Lowes in Palatka, Florida.

    The incident happened in Putnam County in between Gainesville and Jacksonville.  Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the possible cause of the crash.

    The pilot, Richard Carrara, 73 and a passenger, Malcolm Clevenstine,, 71 were critically injured.  They were taken to the nearby hospital. Malcolm Clevenstine, 71, died Friday at Shands Gainesville Hospital.

    Chopper Crashes on Devon Hotel Grounds

    What: 2 seat helicopter
    Where: Devon
    When: May 16 2011
    Who: 2 aboard
    Why: The 2 seat helicopter crashed on the grounds of the Gridleigh Park Hotel in Devon. The wind was reported blowing at about 30 plus knots.

    Devon and Somerset Fire Service responded, and used foam on the chopper which is said to have landed on its roof. The two aboard were injured, treated on the scene.

    Mexico Crash Kills Entrepreneur and Family


    Did this happen because of a random gust of wind? Was this an incident that was invisible or could it have been detected or predicted? You tell me. It’s tragic, whatever the circumstance.

    On January 17, 2013, ( 13:50 local time), a Habilitaciones Turisticas SA CV Piper PA-31-325 Navajo #XBEZY took off from Angel Albino Corzo Intl en route to Xoxocotlán Intl. Airport in Oaxaca but crashed on takeoff.

    Aboard there were a crew of two, and six passengers, three of whom were adults and three who were minors. All eight died in the crash immediately after takeoff in Chiapa de Corzo.

    Witnesses said the ship had just taken off when it was hit by a gust of wind that knocked it to the ground, where it caught afire on impact.

    The plane impacted the ground at Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas and caught fire, covering the airport in smoke.

    The eight fatalities were the two pilots, the captain Alfonso Jimenez Racino, co-pilot Pablo Gomez, businessman Monterrosa Melchor Hernandez, his wife, two sons and two grandchildren. Melchor Hernandez Monterrosa is an entrepreneur, owner of ‘Mezcal Fandango’ and ‘Destiladora Orizaba Valley’ in Veracruz and Puebla,

    ??Civil Aviation, the Mexican Army, Fire, Red Cross, Secretariat of Public Safety and Civil Protection responded to the scene. The crash also started a grass fire that took some fifteen hours to put out and complicated rescue.

    A cold front, clouds and air currents may have contributed to the accident. Civil Aeronautics will be investigating.

    Helicopter Crash in Angola

    What: Angola National Police Aérospatiale/Eurocopter AS-350B3 Ecureuil
    Where: Dundo City Angola
    When: Sept 1, 2012, 06.30 pm
    Who: 4 aboard, 4 fatalities
    Why: An Angolan National Police helicopter crashed killing captain chief-inspector Tiago Casimiro, his assistant, João Adelino João Brandão, and Provincial Electoral Commission employees Lourenço Mussenoho and Maria Augusta João. Investigators have been sent to Lunda Norte Province.

    Catalina Island Crash


    What: Fixed-wing Beechcraft Bonanza aircraft which flew out of Orange County’s John Wayne Airport at 1:30 expecting to return at 4:50 p.m
    Where: crashed in the rain on a remote Catalina Island hilltop near Mt. Orizaba, southwest of Catalina’s Airport in the Sky
    When: Thursday
    Who: Pilot Mark Hogland president of a Dana Point charter flight company,and passengers, an out-of-state man and woman: Marshall Goldberg, a 39 year-old Florida man and Amy Marie Judd, 24 years old of Idaho. There were no survivors.
    Why: The flight failed to return to John Wayne Airport Thursday. On Friday, rescue teams discovered the wreckage. It is speculated that the rainy, foggy weather played a part, although the pilot was FAA qualified to fly on instruments.
