    JetKonnect Airlines Flight Diverts to Hyderabad due to Hydraulic Issue

    JetKonnect Airlines flight S2-4364 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Hyderabad, India, on December 3rd.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Kolkata to Bangalore, India, was diverted after the crew reported a hydraulic issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 147 passengers and 8 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    What: Wizzair Bulgaria Airbus A320-200 en route from Madrid to Sofia Bulgaria
    Where: Madrid
    When: May 22nd 2010
    Who: 136 passengers
    Why: During takeoff, two tires burst. Takeoff was rejected. Passengers disembarked and the tires were replaced, with the flight not arriving in Sophia until nearly 18 hours later.

    AA Plane Returns to Saint Louis after Bird Strike

    american airlinesAmerican Airlines flight AA-2444 had to return and make an emergency landing in Saint Louis, Missouri, on November 19th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Los Angeles, California, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    The NTSB is investigating.

    Airbus Hydraulics Failure in Canada

    What: Air Canada Airbus A320-200 en route from Toronto,ON to Winnipeg,MB
    Where: Winnipeg
    When: May 3rd 2009
    Who: 148 people on board
    Why: When the flight crew discovered low hydraulics fluid, they turned off the system, declared an emergency and flew on to Winnipeg without hydraulics. Just prior to landing, the hydraulics were re-initiated and the plane landed safely. According to the the Aviation Herald’s May 04 report, the “O-ring on the brakes servo valve needed to be replaced. ”

    It’s difficult to argue with a safe landing.

    Though it is impossible from our perspective to say whether this dangerous situation occurred due to maintenance failure or regular wear and tear, the Air Canada flight crew is to be commended for successfully landing without any injuries, and handling the situation in such a practical manner.

    Braathens Regional Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Stockholm

    Braathens Regional Airways flight TF-158 had to return and make an emergency landing in Stockholm, Sweden, on December 7th.

    The plane took off for Malmoe, Sweden, but had to turn back due to an engine issue.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
