Azza Air Plane Goes down in Sudan

Why: The pilot of a Sudanese military plane informed the airport that he had a problem with one of his engines before the plane crashed in a rural area west of the capital Khartoum. Twenty armed forces personnel were on board. The Antonov military transport plane was carrying military equipment from Khartoum to the capital of North Darfur.Initially thirteen people died on the Azza Air jet, and nine were injured.
The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) are investigating.
South African Airbus Turbulence Injures 28 over #Malaysia
South African Airways Flight SA286, an Airbus A340-313X, was en route from OR Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, South Africa, near the city of Johannesburg to Hong Kong International Airport when it encountered severe turbulence four hours from Hong Kong while over Malaysia. The plane suffered cabin damage.Three crew and twenty-five passengers were tossed out of their seats and into the ceiling. THere were 163 passengers aboard. Fourteen ambulances waited at Chek Lap Kok airport to transport the injured to North Lantau Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital and Yan Chai Hospital. Two people are still hospitalized.
Pilots continued to Hong Kong and made a priority landing.
The injured were taken off the plane and hospitalized.Malaysian authorities will be assisting the Civil Aviation Department in the investigation.
*A priority landing means that the incident leads to the aircraft being given landing priority by the airport where it is about to land.
Brazzaville Cargo FLight Crash Fatalities Updated to 32

Who: 30 fatalities, 14 injured *Death toll rises to 32
Why: A Trans Air Congo cargo jet landed in rainy conditions in Brazzaville, one report says the plane overran the runway, went through the airport fence, crossed a street and slammed by buildings into a ravine. It was reported that the brakes failed but the Congolese police said rainy weather was the cause. Another report says the landing failed and the pilot crashed when attempting to go-round.The impact area is a residential area in the Mselou district of Brazzaville
The crew of the jet died in the crash as well as 19 on the ground, and fourteen injured were hospitalized at Makelekelele hospital, Center University Hospital and a military hospital.
Ownership of the plane has been reported all over the board:
1: Air Highnesses/Aero-Service leases the plane to Trans Air Congo. The plane was manned by an Armenian crew. Aero-Service is banned by the EU.
2: The Armenian company RIDGE AIRWAYS LLC, ARMENIA, RDG owns the plane, and it was flying for Aero-Service.Metars reported

Why: The pilot was attempting to make a lake landing with the single engine seaplane when he hit trees near Ideal Terrace and crashed in a field near Williams Lake. The pilot managed to avoid houses in the area, but was injured in the crash with severe injuries to his neck and cuts on his legs.Aegean Airlines La Traviata On Board
I’ve flown Aegean Airlines before, but I wasn’t aboard this flight on May 28 when Tenor Dimitris Paksoglou and soprano Eleni Kelesidis got out of their seats and started singing La Traviata.I think I’d have more of a reaction than the people aboard, who seem about as cool as cucumbers, and took it all in stride. I’ve been on a lot of planes, but not one while it served live opera, or made a couple of singers from the Greece’s National Opera troupe sing for their supper. I wonder if they took requests? Wednesday was the 15 year anniversary of AEGEAN Airlines. I think at the very least I’d have requested “Happy birthday”.
I have flown that airlines to Athens. I’ve never been serenaded on it (yet), but it’s a good airline.
