    Cobham Aviation Plane Landed in Emergency After Engine Fire

    One of the engines of a British Aerospace BAE-146 plane caught fire in Western Australia, after which it had to make an emergency landing at Perth Domestic Airport.

    The Cobham Aviation flight, carrying 97 people, was en route from Perth to Barrow Island. One of the four engines caught fire during its climb, shortly after the take-off.  The plane was then turned back towards Perth airport where it made a safe emergency landing.

    All the passengers and crew members exited safely.

    The cause of fire is under investigation.

    UA Jet Emergency Landing in Brisbane

    What: UNITED Airlines jet en route from Los Angeles to Sydney
    Where: Brisbane
    When: Jan 15 2010
    Who: not available
    Why: While en route, the jet had to divert to Brisbane when it was low on fuel and had an “engineering” problem.

    Passengers were provided alternative transportation.

    Moranbah Ferry Flight Makes Emergency Landing

    What: QANTAS Dash-8
    Where: Moranbah Airport
    When: Feb 9 2012, 12:30 pm
    Who: 3 crew, no passengers
    Why: While ferrying the plane, the crew made an emergency landing at Moranbah Airport after circling.

    They reported smoke in the cockpit, but on landing, no fire was found. Queensland Fire and rescue crews stood on standby during the landing. The ATSB is investigating.

    What: Restored Yak 18T en route to Kingaroy
    Where: Crows Nest, Australia
    When: December 3, 2009
    Who: PILOT Neil Dunn, 56, and 13 year old passenger
    Why: The pilot encountered engine trouble at 10.45am. The bush area (north) that was in their flight plan would have had nowhere to land.

    Referring to the electrical wires Dunn had to dodge to make the emergency landing in his paddock, the amazed farmer said, “I don’t know how they’re not dead.”

    Flat Tire Down Under

    What: A Virgin Blue Holdings Ltd. Boeing 737-700 en route from Sydney Nova Scotia to Coolangatta Australia
    Where: Brisbane Airport Queensland
    When: 2:30 p.m. local time May 26
    Who: 109 passengers
    Why: After departing, Airport crew at Sydney found parts of the Boeing’s nose wheel tire. The plane made a safe emergency landing in Brisbane. Passengers debarked; and the tire was replaced.

    Qantas Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Melbourne

    Qantas flight QF-27 had to make an emergency landing in Melbourne, Australia, on November 6th.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane heading from Sydney, Australia, to Santiago, Chile, was diverted due to an engine problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
