Why: After take-off, flight indicators revealed an engine problem. The pilot landed safely at LAX about 3/4 of an hour after leaving.
A replacement jet was provided.

What: Delta/Pinnacle Airlines Canadair CRJ-200 en route from Detroit to Portland
Where: Albany
When: Jan 18th 2012
Who: 51 passengers and 3 crew
Why: While en route, the plane developed problems with the fuel gauge.
Pilots diverted to Albany where they made a safe landing. The problem took two hours to repair, and the flight resumed.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s plane had to divert and make an emergency landing at Nashville International Airport, Tennessee, on February 3rd.
The Boeing B757, heading to Little Rock, Arkansas, had to be diverted after it experienced engine problems.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
The FAA is investigating.

What: CESSNA 337C registered to George Waller en route from a private airstrip to Stillwater for fuel.
Where: STILLWATER, OK

Why: The plane made a series of turns and was westbound when it crashed in a grove of trees on a private residence near 92nd Avenue and Washington Road eight miles from Stillwater. Witnesses said the “plane didn’t sound right.”
Martinair flight MP-8142 made an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on April 7th.
The Boeing 747-400 plane was flying from Nairobi, Kenya, when the crew reported issues with one of the engines.
The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
Jet Airways flight 9W 955 made an emergency landing in Indore, India, on September 30th.
The plane was flying from Hyderabad, India, when the crew noticed a technical issue with one of the engines.
The plane landed safely. All ninety-six passengers and seven crew members remained unharmed.
American Airlines flight AA-2214 veered off runway at San Antonio Airport, Texas, on June 3rd.
The Boeing 737-800 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, when the crew rejected takeoff due to unknown reasons.
The aircraft subsequently veered off the runway and got stuck in the mud.
All 38 passengers and 6 crew members remained safe.
