    Trans Maldivian Plane makes Crash Landing in Maldives

    A Trans Maldivian flight made a crash landing at Velana International Airport, Malé, Maldives, on May 27th.

    The de Havilland DHC-6-300 flying from Rangali Island, Maldives, had just landed when it tipped over to its left and its nose and left wing was submerged in the water.

    All 9 passengers and 3 crew members were taken to hospital for precautionary measures.

    The aircraft sustained partial damage.

    Small Plane Crashes Near Cape Blanco; Pilot Killed

    A small plane crashed on a beach near Cape Blanco, Oregon, on January 13th.

    It is believed that the pilot suffered a medical issue before the single-engine plane went down.

    The pilot’s identity has not yet been released.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    What: Philippine Air Force GAF N22B Nomad en route from Awang Airport in Cotabato City to Zamboanga
    Where: Virgo Subdivision in Rosary Heights 9.
    When: January 28, 2010
    Who: 8 fatalities including Maj. Gen. Butch Lacso, Two pilots and five crewmen and one fatality on the ground
    Why: After takeoff, the plane suffered an engine failure. The pilot was attempting an emergency landing when the plane crashed in Cotabato City, a residential area outside Manila.

    Charlotte Bobcats Co-owner dies in Plane Crash

    What: private Cirrus SR22 en route from South Carolina to Teterboro, N.J
    Where: Rock Hill airport property just off S.C. 161 in South Carolina just across the state line from Charlotte
    When: 7:15 a.m. Friday
    Who: Pilot and co-owner of the Charlotte Bobcats 49-year-old William “Skipper” Beck of Charlotte, N.C
    Why: Shortly after takeoff, the plane returned, but when attempting to land, crashed and caught on fire. Debris remained at the north end of the runway. Rock Hill airport doesn’t record radio transmissions so there’s no record of whether or not Beck made radio transmissions prior to the crash.

    Beck had 390 flight hours, and the plane had 93 hours in the air.

    Luke Schiada is the lead ntsb investigator assigned to the crash.

    Russian Rocket Crashes

    A Russian booster rocket carrying three satellites crashed in Kazakhstan on Tuesday, July 2, 2013

    The rocket flew straight up for ten seconds, then started to wobble.

    Seventeen seconds into the flight, a booster shut down.

    The rocket impacted the earth a mile from the launch pad. The rocket was unmanned. No one was injured but there were 600 tons of highly toxic fuel aboard. Communities close to the point of impact had to be evacuated. It remains to be seen how this will affect the Russian space program.

    Zenair Crash in Italy


    On Feb 17, 2013 at 16:30, a Zenair which took off from Montemelino crashed in Castelvieto, Corciano Italy. Simone Masci and his companion Monica were aboard, and died in the crash less than a minute after taking off, on fire.

    The police did not find witnesses to the crash. Currently investigators say the cause could be anything from mechanical failure to the illness of the pilot to wind shear.
