    Cargolux Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Kuala Lumpur

    Cargolux flight CV-7303 made an emergency landing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on January 16th.

    The plane took off for Zhengzhou, China, but had to turn back after the crew noticed fire and smoke in the cockpit.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    What: Canadian North Boeing 737-200 en route from St. John’s NL to Winnipeg
    Where: Fredericton
    When: May 25 2010
    Who: 31 people on board,
    Why: While en route, the left engine developed developed oil pressure issues and had to be shut down. The flight diverted to Fredericton and made a safe landing.

    Saudi Runway Incursion

    What: Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 747-300 en route from Riyadh to Madinah
    Where: Madinah
    When: Feb 16th 2011
    Who: 265 passengers
    Why: On landing at Madinah, the plane veered off runway 17 and had a runway excursion on the left of the runway.

    The left hand flaps of the plane were damaged. Passengers disembarked on to the runway. No injuries were reported.

  • Hard Mud Landing in Utah Lakebed

    What: Rans S-7 homebuilt en route from Idaho Falls, Idaho to Lake Havasu along the California/Arizona border.
    Where: the dry lake bed of Sevier Lake
    When: Friday
    Who: Pilot Errol Spaulding of Rigby and passenger Dale Cresap of Idaho Falls
    Why: The plane landed in several feet of soft deep mud in Sevier Lake and had to be retrieved by a hovercraft. After landing, the plane’s wheels sank into the mud, tilting the plane forward onto the propeller which was damaged.

  • Springfield-Branson National Airport Emergency Landing

    Where: Springfield-Branson National Airport
    When: 11 a.m. shortly after takeoff
    Who: 13 people on board
    Why: The on board computer indicated that the plane was not in the air, and that the landing gear would not go up. The plane landed after circling to burn off fuel

    And (separate incident). The model and airline were not indicated in the original news transmission.

    Where: Springfield-Branson National Airport
    When: 3 p.m. on Saturday
    Who: Thirty-two people were on board the jet, including crew and passengers.
    Why: Fire in the cockpit

  • Emergency Landing at Idaho Falls

    What: Cessna Citation x en route to Jackson Hole
    Where: emergency landing at the Idaho Falls Regional Airport
    When: before 3p.m. Saturday afternoon
    Who: Family aboard eventually took a limousine from Idaho Falls to Jackson Hole.
    Why: Plane experienced mechanical difficulties and landed safely with no injuries.
