    What: Amakusa Airlines de Havilland Dash 8-100 en route from Amakusa to Fukuoka
    Where: Amakusa Japan
    When: Nov 3rd 2009
    Who: not available
    Why: While en route not long after take-off, indicators revealed a rudder problem. Within a quarter hour of leaving, the flight returned to the airport. Landing and debarking was without incident.

    Alitalia Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport

    Alitalia flight AZ-608 had to return and make an emergency landing at Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Italy, on April 10th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane took off for John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a hydraulic leak.

    The plane landed back uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Ryanair Diverts to Berlin

    What: Ryanair Boeing 737 en route from London to Bratislava
    Where: Berlin Germany
    When: September 24, 2012
    Why: The Ryanair flight was en route to Bratislava when it developed a fuel problem and diverted to Kassel Germany.

    A warning light indicated a “possible technical issue” or leak.

    Passengers disembarked, and boarded an alternative Ryanair flight.

    Airbus in trouble Lands at San Fran Airport

    What: Northwest Flight Airbus 330 en route from San Francisco to Tokyo
    Where: SFO
    When: Thursday, 09 July 2009
    Who: 194 passengers
    Why: The flight took off without issues but developed a problem in one of its engines When the engine compressor failed, the flow of air to the engine was disrupted, and the flight had to return to the airport for a safe landing.

    Bird-Hit United Flight Returns to Sacramento International Airport

    united airwaysUnited Flight 2005 had to return and make an emergency landing at Sacramento International Airport, California, on November 25.

    The Airbus A320 plane took off for Denver, Colorado, but had to return shortly afterwards after a geese hit its right engine, causing a significant damage.

    The plane landed safely. All 114 passengers remained uninjured.

    The aircraft was taken out of service while the passengers had to re-book the flights.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Duplin County

    emergencyA small plane made an emergency landing on Highway 11 near Garland King Road in Duplin County, North Carolina, on December 21.

    The pilot Richard Kenny said he was forced to land on the highway after his plane ran out of fuel. He was heading from Long Island, New York, to Orlando, Florida, at the time.

    The plane hit a highway sign while landing. No injuries were reported.
