    What: Garuda Indonesia Boeing 737-500 en route from Jakarta to Banda Aceh
    Where: Soekarno-Hatta International Airport
    When: October 30, 2009
    Who: 49 passengers
    Why: When the plane’s inner left wheel fell off at 500 feet, the plane returned to the airport. After the safe albeit wobbly landing, passengers debarked and boarded an alternative flight. Apparently the tire fell in an open area.

    Cape Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Adirondack Regional Airport

    Cape Air flight 1815 made an emergency landing at Adirondack Regional Airport in Franklin County, New York, on August 25th.

    The Cessna 402 plane heading from Albany International Airport to Ogdensburg Regional Airport, New York, was diverted after the crew noticed an engine issue and a whiff of smoke in the cabin.

    The plane landed safely. All five passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    United Airlines Omaha-bound Engine Shut Down

    What: United Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from San Francisco to Boston
    Where: Omaha Nebraska
    When: June 29, 2011, 8:20 pm
    Who: 181 passengers, 6 crew
    Why: While en route to Boston, the plane developed a fuel leak in its right engine. The engine was shut down.

    The pilot made a safe landing in Boston within 20 minutes.

    Passengers were provided an alternative flight.

    Delta Air Lines Flight Diverts to Norfolk International Airport

    DeltaDelta Air Lines Flight 546 had to make an emergency landing at Norfolk International Airport, Virginia at 3:10 P.M. on July 5.

    The Boeing 737 was heading towards John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, from Dominican Republic, when the pilots received warning of a possible mechanical issue in one of the engines and decided to land as a precaution.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 131 passengers and 6 crew members aboard remained safe and were accommodated in a replacement flight.

    Alaska Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Eastern Oregon Regional Airport

    An Alaska Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Eastern Oregon Regional Airport in Pendleton, Oregon, on January 26th.

    The plane heading from Spokane, Washington, to Portland, Oregon, was diverted due to a medical emergency.

    The plane landed safely.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing near Quincy Regional Airport

    A twin-propeller aircraft, on its way from Florida to Quincy, had to make an emergency landing in a soybean field near Quincy Regional Airport in Illinois, on October 26.

    The pilot had to land the plane in emergency after it ran out of fuel.

    All 4 people aboard the plane remained uninjured.

    According to Quincy Airport manager Jarred Hester, the aircraft sustained some damage in the incident.

    The FAA is investigating.
