TAROM flight RO-361 had to return and make an emergency landing at Henri Coanda International Airport, Romania, on June 12th.
The Boeing 737-700 plane took off for Amsterdam, Netherlands, but had to turn back due to a cracked window.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
In a public statement, after the April 8 day’s search for #MH370, RAAF P3 Orion captain Flt Lt said that he was optimistic about the wreckage being found.
Unlike the AF447 search at a parallel point in the search timeline one month in, there has been no visual confirmation of any wreckage or debris, possibly due to tropical storms in the Indian Ocean. The official statement is that the pings have been narrowed down to a twelve mile radius, but searchers are still trying to narrow this area.
Once the area has been narrowed down, an autonomous underwater vehicle will be deployed in a grid (so-called Mowing Lawn pattern) until wreckage has been located.
If the wreckage is found soon, it will have taken twenty-three months less than the search for Air France 447. So one should be perhaps less optimistic about the search, and more determined.
Most recently, Australia announced the search area down to 75,000 sq km. Searchers plan to keep using the Ocean Shield, because it searches more area faster. Once the area is pinned down, they plan to deploy the AUV.
Airlink flight 4Z-8127 made an emergency landing in Windhoek, Namibia, on January 28th.
The plane took off for Cape Town, South Africa, but had to turn back due to a cabin pressurization problem.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Why: Smoke was coming out from its cabin during mid-flight. The plane returned to the airport. No injuries were reported.
American Airlines Flight 202 made an emergency landing at Chicago O’Hare International Airport on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. It later departed Chicago for Boston after a passenger departed from the plane with medical emergency.
The 757 plane had 187 on board including nine crew members.
Kent Powell, American Airlines spokesman said that the pilot had declared a medical emergency to deliver a passenger to medical assistance.
The flight landed safely at about 8:30 p.m..

Why: After takeoff, multiple systems failed, and the crew decided to make a cautionary landing. No explanation has been provided any more explicit than generic “multiple system failures” but whatever the problem was, by Wednesday the plane was back in the air.
United Airlines Flight 1199 (Boeing 737-990/ER) had just landed from Newark with 175 aboard; Alaska Airlines flight 143 (Boeing 757-224) to Portland was departing with 182 aboard when they made contact.
The left hand winglet of the arriving 737 contacted the right hand horizontal stabilizer of the departing 757. Fortunately the Alaska jet was not on its take-off run, so the impact happened at a crawl (i.e. “taxiing at a low speed.”). Passengers said they felt a jolt. The planes were stuck together; and part of one plane had “snapped off.”
The impact occurred at 7:51, derailing travel plans of the passengers, and scheduling for the two damaged jets. Some passengers were put up at local hotels, but there were no reported injuries.
A passenger who shot a well-circulated picture that was released on twitter was besieged with reporter requests to post the image. Actor Peter Cambor who was aboard also tweeted that the jets were “stuck together.”
