    KLM Cityhopper Returns to Amsterdam due to Electrical Odor

    KLM Cityhopper flight KL-933 had to return and make an emergency landing at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Amsterdam, Netherlands, on September 22nd.

    The Embraer ERJ-190 flying to Dublin, Ireland, had to return due to electrical odor in its cockpit.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was injured.

    Small Plane Crashes in Georgia; 3 Dead, 1 Injured

    A small plane crashed near Blairsville Airport, Georgia, on December 19th.

    The plane was carrying four people when it went down. Three people were killed in the crash. They were identified as Robert Atkinson, 56, Renea Greiner, 55 and Michelle Seay, 50. The fourth person was injured and was taken to a hospital.

    Asiacell Corporate Jet Crashes in Iraq

    What: twin-engine corporate jet H25-B en route from Sulaimaniya to Ankara Turkey
    Where: Sulaimaniya
    When: Feb 4 2011
    Who: 13 passengers. 6 survivors reported by media
    Why: While climbing out of Sulaymaniyah, an engine of the corporate jet carrying technicians and shareholders with Iraqi mobile phone company Asiacell caught fire. The plane crashed while trying to return to the airport or abort the landing. (One report says it was only ten seconds in the air.) Fatalities included the jet’s crew of three plus a Lebanese and three Iraqis including Bassel (Basil) Rahim, managing partner of MerchantBridge, the London-based investment firm that owns 19 per cent of Asiacell.

    A fire broke out in one of the engines as the result of a mechanical problem according to news reports. Ambulances were on the scene. The weather was snowy and overcast.

    Vietjet Plane Makes Safe Landing at Noi Bai Airport after Bird Strike

    vietjetVietjet flight VJ-496 made a safe landing at Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, Vietnam, on September 30.

    The Airbus A320-200, flying from Buon Ma Thuot, Vietnam, to Hanoi, was hit by a bird upon approaching the runway.

    The aircraft’s weather radar sustained damage while its radome was also reshaped due to the bird strike.

    No injuries were reported.

    Where: Ciudad Victoria, Mexico
    When: May 12, 2007 12:35 central daylight time
    Who: Commercial pilot
    Why: Single-engine Bell 47G helicopter collided with the terrain under unknown circumstances near Ciudad Victoria, State of Tamaulipas, in the Republic of Mexico. The helicopter was on a ferry flight to its new owner in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

    The flight originated in Brownsville, Texas, at 11:15, and was destined to an intermediate refueling stop at Ciudad Victoria, Mexico.

    Small Plane Crashed in Potter County, PA; 3 Killed

    A Piper PA-28 plane crashed in Potter County, Pennsylvania, on October 16th.

    The plane was heading from Richmond International Airport, Virginia, to St. Catharines/Niagara District Airport, Ontario, Canada, when it went down in Keating Township.

    Three were three people aboard at the time; all of them were killed in the crash. They were identified as 18-year-old Cory Mijac, 25-year-old Rifat Tawig, and 18-year-old Benjamin Jeffries. All of them were from Ontario, Canada.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.
