    Delta Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Syracuse

    What: Delta regional twin engine jet en route from Detroit to Syracuse
    Where: Syracuse New York

    Who: 52 passengers
    Why: Five miles from its destination in Syracuse, the plane developed an oil pressure problem in one engine indicated by an oil pressure gauge.

    The pilot shut it down and made a safe landing. Passengers disembarked at the gate.

    Two Lost in Charco Rico Colombia Crash


    On Feb 26, 2013, an Aeroclub de Flandes Urraco Millenium Plus took off from Flandes with two aboard, pilot Jorge Orlando Ramírez Velásquez and his daughter Estéfanny Lorena Ramírez Isaza.

    Charco villagers heard a crash from the skies into the forest when the plane crashed. Emergency services responded to the scene. The pilot was trapped in the cabin, and his daughter suffered trauma. She had apparently tried to jump from the plane. There were no survivors reported.

    Ramirez belonged to belonged to Bogota and the Aeroclub of Flanders. He had been piloting his private plane. His daughter wanted to learn to fly.

    The accident took place in Carcorrico, in rural Ibagué, presumably due to weather conditions.

    Crabtree Accident Preliminary Investigation Out

    Who: 2 aboard
    Why: The preliminary report on the Nov 26 crash of a 2 seat kit plane says a witness saw one wing fold upward during a turn, and the wing apparently hit the canopy, shattering its glass.

    A wing was lost in flight and found thousands of feet from the location of the wreckage.

    Aircraft owner Timothy Dean Carter of Portland and commercial pilot Jeff Earl Kropf of Halsey were killed in the crash.

    JetBlue Flight Diverts to Atlantic City International Airport

    JetBlue flight B6-1443 had to divert for an emergency landing in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on June 28th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Newark, New Jersey, to West Palm Beach, Florida, was diverted after smoke was noticed in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Jet Blue Nose Gear went Belly Up at JFK

    What: Jetblue Embraer ERJ-190 en route from Austin,TX to New York JFK,NY
    Where: JFK,NY runway 22L diverted to runway 31L
    When: May 7th 2009
    Who: 80 people on board
    Why: After a missed approach, the Jet Blue crew announced a “little issue.” THe little issue turned out to be a nose gear steering fault. The plane landed safely under emergency status; no one was injured. And the plane did require a tow after landing.

    This plane–unlike several others at the same time frame at JFK–did NOT incur a bird strike.
