    Blue Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Henri Coanda International Airport

    Blue Air flight 0B-9247 made an emergency landing at Henri Coanda International Airport, Romania, on June 29th.

    The Boeing 737-400 plane took off for Palma de Mallorca Airport, Spain, but had to turn back due to an engine problem.

    The plane landed back uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Qantas Diverts Due to Faulty fuel Valve

    What: Qantas Boeing 747-400 en route from Sydney,NS (Australia) to Los Angeles,CA
    Where: Nadi, Fiji
    When: Jan 18th 2011
    Why: While en route to Los Angeles, the plane’s engine 4 developed fuel valve problems. The flight diverted to Nadi where they made a safe landing. Passengers were processed by 3 immigration officers.

    The number of passengers was not available.

    25 Qantas economy passengers were offered a ride on the Air Pacific FJ810 service from Nadi to LAX without their luggage. Other passengers took advantage of overnight accommodations as they waited for a replacement flight to come from Sydney. Apparently their first replacement flight also had to be replaced.

    Virgin Australia Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Issue

    Virgin Australia flight VA-546 made an emergency landing in Brisbane, Australia, on October 12th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Coolangatta to Sydney, Australia, was diverted after the crew noticed an engine issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Boeing Director William M. Daley Resigns Board Seat

    CHICAGO, Jan. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — The Boeing (NYSE: BA) board of directors today accepted the resignation of director William M. Daley who, on Jan. 7, submitted his request to resign following his appointment as U.S. President Barack Obama’s chief of staff.

    “All of us at Boeing thank Bill for his contributions to our company and wish him well as he tackles this next phase of his exemplary public service career,” said Chairman, President and Chief Executive Jim McNerney.

    The resignation is effective as of Jan. 7. Daley, 62, joined the board in 2006. His public career includes serving as President Bill Clinton’s Commerce secretary from Jan. 1997, to July, 2000.

    Smokey Continental Airlines Flight Lands at Newark

    What: Continental Airlines Boeing 737-700 en route from Newark to Boston
    Where: Newark Liberty Airport
    When: Jan 26, 2011
    Why: On take-off, the plane filled with smoke. The pilot announced that the smoke was due to de-icing procedures, and made an emergency landing in Newark. Weather conditions at the time included snow, and freezing temperatures.

    The plane made a safe landing with emergency services on standby.

    WestJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Greenland

    WestJetWestJet flight WS-4 made an emergency landing at Kangerlussuaq Airport, Greenland, on October 18th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane heading from Gatwick Airport, England, to Toronto, Canada, was diverted after the crew noticed a failure in the avionics bay cooling system.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
