    Small Plane Crashed in Surprise; Pilot Injured

    A single-engine, fixed-wing plane crashed just short of a private airstrip near Loop 303 and Cactus Road in Surprise, Arizona, on April 4.

    Authorities said the Jabiru 3300 light-sport aircraft took off from Glendale Airpark and was attempting to land at the private airfield when it went down.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, sustained minor injuries in the incident and was shifted to hospital.

    The FAA is investigating.

    N36 Million Awarded to Families of Police Chopper Crash Victims

    The families of late DIG Haruna John, AC Garba Yalwa (Pilot), CSP Alexander Pwol-Ja (co-pilot,) and Sgt Sonatian Shirunam (orderly to the DIG) were given bank cheques of the insurance covers ranging from N9 million to N2 million by Inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar.

    Four property owners who sustained damages were awarded compensation.

    Piper Crashes in NJ

     


    What: Piper PA-28-140 registered to Peter Schneider
    Where: Hunterdon County NJ a quarter-mile east of Alexandria Field airport in a wooded area behind a house on Mechlin Corner Road Alexandria Township.
    When: Tuesday night some time after 6 pm. Troopers discovered the wreckage around 8 p.m.
    Who: Pilot Peter Schneider was airlifted to St. Luke’s Hospital in serious condition. Pilot/flight instructor Ronald Orton died in the crash.
    Why: The plane’s owner was in the process of logging hours to maintain his license when the crash occurred.

    8 Killed, 2 Injured in Romanian Military Helicopter Crash

    helicopterA Romanian military helicopter crashed in Malancrav, some 350 kilometers from Bucharest, Romania, on the morning of November 21.

    The defense ministry officials said that the IAR-330 helicopter was on a training flight when it crashed.

    Eight military officials were killed in the accident while 2 others were injured. Their identities have not yet been released.

    The cause of crash is not clear at the moment.

    Jetblue Flight Diverts to Boston Over Flaps Problem

    JetBlueJetblue flight B6-2020 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts, on October 18.

    The Embraer ERJ-190, travelling from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Worcester, Massachusetts, was diverted after the crew reported a flaps problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 90 people aboard remained unhurt.

  • The New Rage: Unruly Door Openers

    What is going on with all of these unruly passengers attempting to open the door?
    It is aerodynamically impossible to open these doors most of the time, but it is still a spectacularly stupid thing to attempt.

    I hope it is not a trend. IF it is, it’s a bad one.
