Why: Three passengers became sick because of possible food poisoning before boarding the plane.. Two of the passengers were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment. The third passenger declined treatment.

What: British Airways Boeing 777-200 en route from Santa Maria Azores Islands (Portugal) to London Heathrow
Where: Atlantic
When: Oct 19th 2011
Why: While en route to Portugal, one of the plane’s four engines (right engine) had to be shut down after experiencing a problem with the oil pressure. The flight diverted to Lisbon, and made a safe landing.
The same plane had had a similar problem on October 16th, and had diverted at that point to Santa Maria.
Scandinavian Airlines flight SK-997 had to return and make an emergency landing in Copenhagen, Denmark, on September 1st.
The Airbus A340-300 plane took off for Shanghai, China, but had to turn back due to a spoiler problem.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
GoAir flight G8-283 had to return and make an emergency landing in Bangalore, India, on September 1st.
The Airbus A320-200N plane took off for Pune, India, but had to turn back due to an engine failure.
The plane landed safely. All one hundred and sixty-nine people aboard remained unharmed.
British Airways flight BA-196 made an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, England, on November 13th.
The Boeing 777-200 plane was flying from Houston, Texas, when the crew requested emergency assistance due to a technical issue.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
United Airlines flight UA-6180 had to return and make an emergency landing in Houston, Texas, on August 30th.
The plane took off for Norfolk, Virginia, but had to turn back due to a cabin pressurization problem.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
RwandAir flight WB-110 made an emergency landing in Cape Town, South Africa, on September 2nd.
The Boeing 737-700 plane was flying from Harare, Zimbabwe, when it suffered loss of cabin pressure.
The crew initiated an emergency descent and continued for a safe landing in Cape Town.
Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
