    Gyro Crashes in German Field

    What: Fliegmituns.de AutoGyro Europe MTOsport
    Where: near Breitscheid Airfield, Germany
    When: July 15, 2011 at 15:10
    Who: 2 fatalities
    Why: On approach to Breitscheid, the Gyrocopter went into a tailspin, fell like a stone, and crashed in a field. The 59 year old pilot and the 26 year old passenger (who had received the flight as a birthday gift from his girlfriend) both died on the scene, 150 meters from the runway.

    The pilot had been an Air Force transport pilot, and worked for the Defense Department, and an Airbus captain.

    Both the pilot and the passenger are being autopsied in order to exclude heart attack or illness as a cause for the accident.

    British Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Iqaluit, Canada

    British Airways flight BA-103 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Iqaluit, Canada, on September 12th.

    The Boeing 787-900 plane heading from Heathrow Airport, England, to Calgary, Canada, was diverted due to a technical issue.

    The plane landed safely.

    Little Rock Emergency Landing

    What: Southwest Airlines Boeing en route from Little Rock to Baltimore
    Where: Little Rock
    When: Mar 24 2010
    Who: 137 passengers
    Why: While en route, the cabin filled with the scent of something burning. The flight returned to Little Rock where it made a safe landing. Passengers were rebooked on a later flight.

    Singapore Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Singapore

    Singapore Airlines flight SQ-336 had to return and make an emergency landing in Singapore, on November 19th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane took off for Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, but had to turn back due to the loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely. All two hundred and thirty-four passengers and seventeen crew members remained unharmed.

    Korean Air Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Seoul

    Korean Air flight KE-51 made an emergency landing in Seoul, South Korea, on November 29th.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Honolulu, Hawaii, but had to turn back after the crew noticed a cabin pressure problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All one hundred and twenty-eight passengers aboard remained safe.

    What: Alaska Airline Boeing 737 Phoenix to Seattle
    Where: Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport
    When: emergency landing around 6:40 a.m
    Who: 113 passengers
    Why: After an emergency with an overheating hydraulic pump, the flight landed back at the Phoenix airport after 15 minutes; and (after 45 minutes of maintenance) was back in the air 1.5 hours behind schedule, but successfully en route to Seattle
