Where: Amsterdam
When: Feb 3
Why: After a successful flight from Atlanta to Amsterdam, the flight crew reported a flat tire prior to landing.

* (The plane’s indicators include a tire pressure indicator. As a rule, when 5 of the 6 main landing gear tires are correct, the pressure is adequate for landing.)

However, they made a successful landing and taxied to the gate.

Air France Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Russia

Air France flight AF-116 made an emergency landing in Irkutsk, Russia, on November 11th.

The plane heading from Paris, France, to Shanghai, China, was diverted after the crew reported smoke on-board.

The plane landed safely. All two hundred and eighty-two passengers and sixteen crew members remained unharmed.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport

A small plane made an emergency landing at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, Florida, on April 28th.

The plane was flying from Belize to Tampa, Florida, when the pilot declared an emergency reporting that the left main gear wheel was missing.

The plane landed safely. Chief Operating Officer of the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, Mark Stuckey, said, “Luckily when it did land, the aircraft did not catch fire, there were sparks but it safely skidded into the grass.”

There were four people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

Air France Cargo Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Halifax Airport

Air FranceAir France cargo plane, operating flight 6738, had to make an emergency landing at Halifax International Airport in Nova Scotia, Canada, on April 14.

The Boeing 777 plane, heading from Paris to Chicago, was forced to land in emergency after one of its two engines lost power.

The plane landed uneventfully at around 9:35 p.m.

There were 3 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

The incident is being investigated.

Where: Kalamazoo Battle Creek International Airport
When: Oct 27, 2009
Who: pilot
Why: Witnesses say the plane took off at a low speed, wavered and began to flap back and forth. Just after liftoff, the plane crashed past the north end of the runway after plowing through security fences and coming to a halt in the parking lot and catching fire. The pilot’s injuries were fatal.

What: TAP Air Portugal Airbus A330-200 en route from Lisbon Portugal to Belo Horizonte Brazil
Where: Lisbon
When: Sep 24 2010
Why: Just after takeoff, the TAP Air Portugal Airbus A330-200 suffered engine trouble. After shutting down an engine, the crew returned to Lisbon where they made a safe landing.

Passengers were provided a replacement flight.
