    Bird Hits Medical Helicopter in Merkel, Texas

    Air EvacA medical helicopter had to make an emergency landing near Interstate 20 and FM 126 in Merkel, Texas, at around 7:45 p.m. on November 11.

    The pilot was forced to land in emergency after a bird hit the helicopter, which was transporting a patient from Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene to Lubbock Covenent Hospital, Lubbock at the time.

    The Air Evac chopper landed safely. Authorities said that a flight nurse received minor injuries in the accident and was given medical assistance at the scene.

    Another Air Evac helicopter was sent from Eastland to resume the flight. The patient had to face a delay of about 1 hour.

    Miranda Lambert’s Jet Lands in Clarksburg Instead of Nashville

    Miranda LambertA private jet carrying Miranda Lambert, the famous country music star and her team made an emergency landing in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

    The incident happened on June 3, when the plane was en route from New York to Nashville, Tennessee.

    Wes Vause, Lambert’s publicist said that the plane lost pressure and they had to wait for about three hours before resuming the journey.

    Chopper Crash in Louisiana, 2 lost

    What: Cenac Marine Services Robinson R44 Raven II
    Where: Belle Isle area east of Wax Lake, LA
    When: Jan 19, 2012, 7:30 am
    Who: 2 aboard
    Why: A helicopter flying south of Morgan City crashed into a marsky area east of Wax Lake. Fishermen called 911 when they saw the burning wreckage.

    The Cenac Marine Services helicopter crashed at 7:30 am, killing the two aboard.

    In St. Mary Parish, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has four boats and six agents engaged in search, rescue and recovery. FAA and National Transportation Safety Board investigators will be arriving ASAP.

    American Airlines Plane Diverts to London due to Electrical Odor

    American Airlines flight AA-759 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, London, on June 12th.

    The Airbus A330-300 flying from Athens, Greece, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, had to divert due to electrical odor.

    The plane landed safely.

    Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    What: Emirates Airlines Airbus A330-200 en route from Dubai to Durban
    Where: Durban
    When: Dec 19th 2009
    Who: 20 injuries
    Why: Two hours after takeoff, the flight plunged for about ten seconds, on encountering severe turbulence which injured twenty. Trolleys, bags, passengers and flight attendants flew about and impacted the ceiling; and interior elements of the plane incurred damage (panels, wires, seating, etc…). A passenger on board was a doctor, and he treated the injuries. On landing at Durban, a dozen individuals were treated at the airport, and eight were taken to area hospitals. Injuries included a broken hand and several spinal injuries.

    Turnaround for the flight was just over 4 hours.

    Air India Flight Returns to Newark Liberty International Airport

    airindialogoAn Air India flight had to return and make an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, New Jersey, on April 5.

    The airline confirmed the incident saying, “the flight had taken off for Mumbai at around 1650 hours (US time) and landed back at Newark (US) after being airborne for about two hours due to violent vibrations in one of the engines of the Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft.”

    There were more than 250 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.
