    The plane, flying from Dresden, Germany, declared an emergency after smoke was detected in the cockpit.

    Why: The Expressjet had such a rocky take-off the pilot announced to the passengers he was flying over the tower to see if there was something wrong.

    There was something wrong. He had a flat, the tower observed.

    The jet landed safely at Memphis International Airport with emergency services on standby. After passengers disembarked, they were provided overnight accommodations until the replacement flight arrived (Saturday.)

    JetBlue Flight Made Emergency Landing at Logan Airport

    JetBlueJetBlue flight 1668, en route from Charleston International Airport, made an emergency landing at Boston Logan International Airport at about 3:25 p.m. on August 4.

    According to JetBlue spokeswoman Real Hamilton-Romeo, the emergency was declared after the aircraft, with 95 passengers aboard, experienced a mechanical problem prior to landing.

    The plane landed safely and no one was hurt. Massport’s emergency response team received the plane as it touched the ground.

    The FAA is investigating the incident.

    Delta Airlines Plane Returns to Minnesota after Lavatory Smoke Indication

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-1996 had to return and make an emergency landing at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, Minnesota, on October 22nd.

    The McDonnell Douglas MD-88 en-route to LaGuardia Airport, New York, had to return after the crew received indication of smoke in lavatory.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 149 passengers aboard were unhurt.

    The passengers were later provided a replacement plane.

    BMI Regional Plane Diverts to London due to Smoke Indication

    BMI RegionalBMI Regional flight BM-1826 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport, London, England, on December 2.
