Those involved have been disciplined for breaking India’s “no alcohol 12 hours before flying” rule. Individuals not passing breathalizer testing are grounded for a month.

Three Jet Airways examiners flunked the DGCA exam, Manoj Manha and M. Shain had “inadequate subject knowledge” of the Airbus they are purported to be experts of and Anupam Khanna was “casual” and “lacking in cockpit discipline.” Manha and Shain will be continuing as examiners after corrective training.
The deficiency casts a shadow on all of those whose expertise was qualified by Manha, Shain and Khanna.
It means that if the DGCA is going to follow through and maintain standards, every person qualified by these examiners (or otherwise taught by them) is scrutinized and retested.
Can pilots be deemed competent when they have been trained by incompetents?
Kingfisher Birdstrike in Mumbai
What: Kingfisher Airlines A320 en route from Mumbai to New Delhi
Where: Mumbai
When: Oct 8 2010,
Who: 120 passengers
Why: After takeoff, the flight incurred a bird strike.
The crew made an emergency landing back in Mumbai. Passengers disembarked, and will be provided an alternative flight. Meanwhile, maintenance will be examining any damage to the plane committed in the bird strike.
Recent Airline Accidents since the Tam Air Crash in Sao Paulo
30 November 2007; Atlasjet MD83; near Keciborlu, Turkey:
Domestic flight from Istanbul to Isparta disappeared from radar screens. The crew had requested permission to land and subsequently crashed in mountainous terrain near the town of Keciborlu 7.5 miles from the Isparta airport. All seven crew members and 50 passengers were killed.
16 September 2007; One-Two-Go Airlines MD82; Phuket, Thailand:
Scheduled domestic flight from Bangkok (DMK) to Phuket (HKT). After landing heavy rain and poor visibility , the aircraft skidded off the runway, impacted trees, and caught fire. At least 89 deaths, including 85 of the 123 passengers and five of the seven crew members.
20 August 2007; China Airlines 737-800; Naha, Japan:
After landing at Naha on the island of Okinawa, the left engine caught fire and the crew initiated an emergency evacuation. All 157 passengers (including two toddlers) and eight crew members survived. This event did not result in a passenger death.
9 August 2007; Air Moorea Twin Otter; Moorea, Frech Polynesia:
Scheduled domestic flight from Moorea (MOZ) to Tahiti (PPT) crashed into the ocean shortly after takeoff. The single crew member and all 19 passengers were killed.
Pakistani Chartered Plane Lands in Lucknow for Re-fuelling
A Pakistani aircraft en-route to Dhaka from Lahore made an emergency landing in Lucknow due to a fuel shortage.
The aircraft, chartered by some unknown company safely landed at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in the afternoon of May 6.
The pilot of the aircraft informed the Lucknow air traffic control about the fuel shortage while flying over Uttar Pradesh. The ATC granted permission for landing after obtaining necessary clearances from all concerned.
The ATC officials said the aircraft was parked at a remote bay during the re-fuelling. All the passengers remained inside the plane.
