  • Pilot crashes in Winter Garden

    Where: St. Johns Lake near the Deer Isle subdivision in Winter Garden in West Orange County Florida
    When: Saturday afternoon
    Who: Pilot sustained no significant injuries
    Why: Currently under investigation by the FAA

    After crashing, the plane was submerged with the pilot’s head just above water. Witnesses attempted to free him, but he remained trapped until extricated by Orange County rescue.

    Kazakhstan Training Crash

    A Kazakhstan Air Force Aero L-39C Albatros was on a training mission when it crashed in Akhtobe Kazakhstan.

    A teacher and a student pilot were aboard. “Methodologist of the-inspector of the security service of flights of the Military Institute lieutenant colonel aviation Colonel Vissarionov Evgeny Nikolaevich and Military Institute Cadet Massalimov Arman Evgeniyuly died on impact.”

    The crash was witnessed by passengers who had just arrived from Almaty.

    The plane crashed into the hanger.

    A criminal investigation has been opened under Article 392 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Violation of the rules of safety and training.”

    Rusty the Border Collie Rescued After his Master’s Fatal Crash

    What: Cessna 180 en route from Vulcan, Alta., to Springfield, B.C.,
    Where: Williams Lake, Rocky Mountains
    When April 26 2011, between 8 and 9 am
    Who: Fifty-nine year old pilot Ed Fedaj
    Why: Friday, the dog Rusty was found by Parks staff Rusty survived a plane crash that killed his owner Ed Fedaj, but before the dog could be recovered, he disappeared into the park. After being looked over by a vet, Rusty, a 6 yr-old Border Collie will be returned to his family, to be adopted by Ted Fedaj.

    The Cessna 180 was found where it slammed into a gorge at 1,500 metres on the side of Mount King. Ed’s body was retrieved in spite of an avalanche risk.

    Ed had been visiting relatives in southern Alberta and was returning home to Williams Lake when he crashed.

    The B.C. Coroners Service and the Federal Transportation Safety Board are investigating.

    American Eagle Regional Jet Makes Emergency Landing due to Electrical Smell in Cockpit

    American Eagle flight 2800 made an emergency landing at Abilene Regional Airport, Texas at 4:30 pm on 19th April.

    The flight originated from Dallas to Santa Fe, NM, with 40 passengers and 4 crew members.

    The decision to make an emergency landing was made after the pilot reported an unusual electrical smell coming from the cockpit.

    The ERJ-140 plane is currently being checked for the cause of the smell. Another aircraft took the passengers to their destination.

    Single-Engine Cessna Crashes in El Dorado County, CA.

    CessnaOne person was injured after a small plane crash landed at Cameron Airport in El Dorado County, California.

    The accident happened on the afternoon of May 21 when the single-engine Cessna 180 lost control, flipped over and landed upside down.

    The pilot of the plane, Robert Petersen, 78, was the only one on-board and escaped with minor injuries.

    He said that the accident happened due to a strong wind gust. “A little gust as I’m three-pointing and rolling out. When it starts and you don’t keep it straight, it’ll ground loop… it dragged the right wing tip, went up, the prop hit, then it stops and just flips over backwards.” He said after the accident.
