    Birmingham-Bound American Airlines Plane Diverts to Canada

    American AirlinesAmerican Airlines flight AA130 made an emergency landing in Gander, Newfoundland, Canada, on August 24.

    It is believed that the plane was diverted after cabin lights went off due to generator malfunction. According to the airline, “American Airlines Flight 130 travelling from New York John F. Kennedy Airport to Birmingham International Airport, UK diverted to Gander, Newfoundland due to the cockpit crew reporting a mechanical issue. An emergency landing was declared due to the aircraft being overweight, landing without incident at 23.45 local time.”

    All 148 passengers remained unharmed.

    American Airlines Flight Returned to LAX with Cracked Windshield

    American AirlinesAmerican Airlines flight 2448, heading towards Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, returned to the Los Angeles International Airport for emergency landing shortly after it took off on September 1.

    The plane was diverted after the captain reported cracked windshield just moments after taking off.

    The aircraft landed uneventfully sometime after 4 p.m. and everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Five crew members and 180 passengers were switched to another aircraft within an hour.

    Jet Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Mumbai after Bird Strike

    Jet AirwaysJet Airways flight 9W 541 had to make an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, India, on March 31.

    Authorities said the pilot requested an emergency landing after a bird hit the aircraft. According to an airline spokesperson, “The captain of Jet Airways flight 9W 541 from Dubai to Mumbai reported a bird hit while landing. A thorough inspection of the aircraft was carried out and no damage was reported.”

    There were 110 passengers aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.

    The incident temporarily closed the runway due to which, 4 flights were asked to abort landing while 5 other incoming flights, including 4 Indigo flights and 1 Jet Airways flight, were diverted to other airports.

    China Eastern Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in China

    China Eastern Airlines flight MU-5602 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Qingdao, China, on January 31.

    The Airbus A321-200, en-route from Shenyang to Shanghai Pudong, China, was diverted after the left hand engine failed midair.

    The plane landed uneventfully. No injuries were reported.

    Eastern Airways Plane Diverts to Manchester

    Eastern AirwaysEastern Airways flight T3-9625 made an emergency landing in Manchester, England, on July 24th.

    The plane heading from Newcastle, England, to Geneva, Switzerland, was diverted due to indication of an engine malfunction.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    A replacement plane was arranged for the passengers.
