    Pilot Injured after Cessna Crashed in New South Wales

    CessnaA Cessna 172 aircraft had to make a crash landing in bushland at Putty, New South Wales, Australia, on the night of October 27.

    The aircraft departed from Ballarat and had stopped for a scheduled re-fuelling at Mudgee before it resumed its flight to Luskintyre. The authorities believe that it ran out of fuel or developed some other issue due to which it had to make an emergency crash landing.

    A search operation was launched after it was noticed that the aircraft was overdue at Luskintyre Airfield by more than 40 minutes.

    The pilot, identified as Peter George, 62, sustained serious chest and head injuries. Hunter’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter located him and shifted him to John Hunter Hospital where he is in stable condition.

    The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is investigating.

    Wind, Storm Crashes Helicopter in Santa Clarita


    What: Swanson Aviation Group Helicopter hired by Southern California Edison to string electrical line
    Where: Santa Clarita area north of Los Angeles behind Lombardi Ranch on Bouquet Canyon Road.
    Who: 1 fatality. The pilot sustained minor injuries.It is unclear if Curtis Cauthen of Ashfork, CA.–the mechanic on the ground– worked for the helicopter company or the electrical company.) Curtis was caught by the rotor blades and sustained fatal injuries.
    Why: The helicopter was hoving above-ground when a gust of wind wind caused the helicopter to spiral.

    CHC Helikopter Crashes In Norway en Route from Gullfaks B Oil rig

    Friday night 13 people died in a helicopter crash in a Eurocopter EC225 Super Puma crash in Norway,in Turøy west of Sotra. The helicopter was flying out of Gullfaks B Oil rig to the Bergen – Flesland airport whenthe rotor separated from the helicopter. Helicopters, boats and firetrucks responded to the scene, and though no numbers were available, reporter Kyrre Styve from the Vestnytt newspaper said it was “everything available.” The helicopter’s rotor system was on land and the Fuselage was found in the water. The tail was raised by a crane from 7 meters deep. The helicopter is owned by CHC Helikopter service.

    Statoil CEO Arne Sigve Nylund said “This is a profound tragedy. There are 13 colleagues who do not come home.” Gullfaks B oil field work has been temporarily suspended.

    The Joint Rescue Coordination Center said, “We do not believe anyone can be found alive.” Eleven Norwegians, one Briton and one Italian were aboard.

    A center for relatives has been set up at Scandic Kokstad hotel in Bergen. The number for families is 800 500 20.

    Turkish Helicopter Crashes Killing a Dozen Military, Plus Civilians on the ground

    What: Turkish Army Sikorsky S-70A-28 (CH-60)
    Where: Bagrami district, Kabul
    When: Mar 16, 2012, 10:25 a.m.
    Who: 10 fatalities aboard, 2 on the ground
    Why: The Turkish (Turk Kara Ordusu Havaciligi) helicopter crashed into a house in Bagrami District. A dozen Turkish troopers aboard the helicopter were killed. The number reported as being inside the house varies from 2 (children) to a total of eight residents. The Herald Sun reported five bodies. One report says a female casualty may have been aboard the helicopter.

    The crash is attributed to a malfunction, and not to any military action.

    Grisly descriptions of the scene of the crash indicate the bodies of the military victims were decimated into parts. The bodies of two girls from but not in the multi-story brick house have been recovered. The house is described as “scorched” “a smoking hole” and with “several large holes.” A woman and a Turkish boy were injured.

    Cessna tree-strike

    What: Oasis Flight Services. twin engine Cessna en route to Plymouth Municipal Airport
    Where: PLYMOUTH, Mass
    When: June 19 2010,5:15 p.m.
    Who: three aboard
    Why: After surveying, the Cessna was en route to the airport when it got stuck in a tree in a Plymouth neighborhood. No one was injured.

    Light Plane Crashed in Kenya; 1 Killed, 5 Injured

    A light plane crashed over Lake Naivasha, Naivasha, Nakuru County, Kenya, on the noon of September 8th.

    The crash killed 1 woman and injured 5 other occupants. The injured were taken to hospital.

    The cause of the cause is under investigation.
