Motivated by the recent tragedy of the Air India Express crash at Mangalore India, the government of India is setting up an independent Civil Aviation Authority to investigate aviation accidents, above and beyond the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The new authority will be analogous to the FAA.
