    Medical Helicopter Crashes in Arizona; 2 Killed, 1 Injured

    A medical helicopter crashed near Apache Junction, Arizona, on December 15.

    The helicopter, operated by Air Methods, was flying from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport to Globe when it went down.

    There were three crew members aboard at the time; two of them were killed. The deceased were identified as the pilot David Schneider, 51, of Gilbert, and flight nurse Chad Frary, 38, of Mesa.

    The third crew member, identified as the paramedic Derek Boehm, 38, of Gilbert, was critically injured.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

    Helicopter Crash In Germany Kills 4

    What: Robinson R44 helicopter, Austrian registration OE-XKS en route from Augsburg – EDMA, Germany to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Airport- LOWS, Salzburg, Austria
    Where: Teisendorf, Germany
    When: June 9, 2012
    Who: 4 fatalities
    Why: Moments after the pilot told ATC he would be making an precautionary landing 15 km from their destination, ATC lost contact with the aircraft, and the helicopter crashed into trees and mountaneous terrain, bursting into flames near Teisendorf, Germany.

    The pilot and three passengers on board the helicopter were fatally injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The foreign, non-scheduled cross-country flight originated at Worms, Germany, and was en route to Salzburg, Austria.

    At 1520, the weather conditions at Salzburg, Austria, 12 miles east-southeast of the accident was wind 200 degrees at 3 knots, few clouds at 500 feet, broken ceiling at 6000 feet, visibility 6 miles, rain, temperature 57 degrees Fahrenheit (F). The German government is investigating.

    Helicopter Crash in Australia Leaves One Injured

    A helicopter crashed in a secluded area near Blackall, western Queensland, Australia, on July 27th.

    According to sources, the man flying the helicopter was seriously injured in the crash. He was taken to hospital.

    The crash remains under investigation.

    Allegheny Energy Chopper Crash in WV, 1 killed, 3 injured

    What: MD HELICOPTERS INC registered to WINCO INC in a rural area of Tucker County
    Where: Thomas WV
    When: October 30 10:30 am
    WEATHER: 1551Z EKN 00000KT 10SM CLR 09/01 A3009
    Who: subcontractors of Allegheny Energy: fatality Gary Bland, 52, of Georgia. Injured identified as Robert Rogers, Ryan Lang and Jeffrey McCay
    Why: A pilot and three linemen were working on wiring on a transmission tower, when the helicopter came down, killing one, injuring 3. The injured were taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

    Bell Helicopter sinks off of Western Australia Coast

    What: Bell 407 helicopter took off from the holiday vessel True North for a scenic flight around the Horizontal Falls area.
    Where: In the ocean at Talbot Bay
    When: Reported to Tam Air on September 25, 2008 04:00 pm
    Who: Six passengers and a pilot on board. All were rescued. A woman in her late eighties needed CPR, and was flown to Broome hospital by float plane and is currently in stable condition.
    Why: Engine Failure

    Measures are being taken to curtail environmental damage, and attempts will be made to activate the plane’s flotation controls which the pilot did not have time to activate.

    Sikorsky Hits Gangnam High Rise


    On Nov 16, 2013, a helicopter took off from Soeul Gimpo Airport en route to Jamsil-Dong to pick up LG employees. The LG Electronics Sikorsky S-76C++ helicopter flew into a high rise in Seoul.

    Two pilots aboard the helicopter died after their propellor struck the 30 story high rise. No one in the building sustained injury.

    Captain Park In-kyu and co-pilot Koh Jong-jin, were employed by LG. The weather conditions at the were foggy, with limited visibility.
