    Two Killed in Oklahoma Plane Crash

    A small plane crashed in Caddo County, Oklahoma, on March 25th.

    Authorities said the plane heading from Odessa, Texas to El Reno, Oklahoma, was diverted to an airport in Hinton, Oklahoma, due to bad weather conditions.

    However, the plane could not make it to the airport and went down in a field south of Hydro, Oklahoma.

    There were two people aboard, including the pilot Walter Mullaney, 62, and his passenger Cesar Gomez, 27; both were killed in the crash.

    What: Royal Air Lear (Cargo) jet en route to Wheeling illinois
    Where: S of Chicago
    When: January 5th 2010, 2 pm
    Who: Pilot
    Why: On the landing approach to Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling, Ill., witnesses saw the plane go down in the Cook County Forest Preserve on the banks of the Des Plaines River. The plane came to rest in about 4 feet of water.

    Pilot Survives Small Plane Crash in New Mexico after Engine Glitch

    A small plane crashed in a farmland in Bloomfield, New Mexico, on the morning of October 28th.

    The Cirrus SR22 encountered engine malfunction mid-air and crashed shortly afterward.

    The pilot, who was the only person onboard, rescued himself through a parachute and escaped without injuries.

    The crash remains under investigation.

    Emergency Landing for Piper Cherokee at Pensacola Gulf Coast Regional Airport

    Who: The pilot was the only one aboard
    Why: Prior to requesting clearance, the pilot called air traffic control reporting engine trouble.

    Bad Day for Helicopters


    Didn’t mention this all together yesterday but it was a bad day (or two) for helicopters.

    On Mar 19

    • Bristow Academy Inc Schweitzer 269C-1 training flight; chopper lost power and crash-landed Highway US-1 near Titusville, FL. Two aboard, no injuries

    On Mar 21

    • Bundespolizei Aérospatiale AS 332L1 Super Puma was in a training exercise in snowy conditions at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium. The Super Puma struck the EC-155 while landing, and fell. THe EC-155 pilot died on the scene, and three were injured.

    Boeing 707 Cargo Plane Crashes in Iran; 15 Dead

    A cargo plane crashed at Fath Airport in Karaj, Iran, on January 14th.

    Authorities said the Boeing 707 cargo plane overshot the runway, hit a wall and caught fire.

    There were sixteen people aboard at the time; fifteen of them were killed in the crash, while one person survived.

    The plane was brining meat from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan at the time.
