    PIA Flight Diverts to Karachi due to Cracked Windshield

    Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-204 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Karachi, Pakistan, on June 19th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Lahore, Pakistan, was diverted due to a cracked windshield.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Why: After takeoff, the Airbus thrust reverser malfunctioned and the crew had to return to the airport. They made a safe landing half an hour later, and passengers disembarked, eventually boarding another plane.

    Air Canada Flight Diverts to Halifax Stanfield Airport

    Air Canada Air Canada flight AC682 made an emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield Airport in Nova Scotia, Canada, on August 5.

    The plane was heading from Toronto’s Pearson Airport to Deer Lake Regional Airport when it was diverted.

    According to the airline, “The aircraft landed normally and safely after it developed a cabin pressurization issue, during which oxygen masks were deployed. The cause has not been determined at this time, and the aircraft has been taken out of service for evaluation.”

    Allegiant Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Nebraska

    AllegiantAn Allegiant Air flight had to make an emergency landing at Central Nebraska Regional Airport, Grand Island, Nebraska, at around 3:30 p.m. on October 20.

    The Flight 8502 was on its way from North Platte to Sioux City, Iowa, when a warning signal indicated that equipment at the back of the aircraft was overheating.

    The plane landed uneventfully and all 6 people aboard, including 2 pilots and 4 crew members, remained unharmed.

    The aircraft was taken for inspection.

    Helicopter Carrying Ghana’s President Makes Precautionary Landing due to Bad Weather

    A helicopter, carrying Ghana’s president and his wife, made a precautionary landing in an open field of Apatrampa in Kumasi, Ghana on the night of July 10.

    President John Dramani Mahama, and his wife, Lordina Mahama, were travelling to Accra from Sunyani, when “a sudden storm with high winds closed in”, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing.

    The helicopter landed safely.

    Everyone aboard, including the President and his wife, remained unharmed.

    Hungarian Military Aircraft Intercept TAROM Flight After Loss of Communication

    TAROM flight RO-316 was intercepted by Hungarian military aircraft on April 28th.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane heading from Munich, Germany, to Sibiu, Romania, was intercepted after it lost contact with the ATC in the Hungarian airspace.

    The communication was subsequently restored and the military aircraft returned to the base.

    The passenger plan continued for a safe landing in Sibiu.

    The incident is under investigation.
